Power Steering is acting wierd...

Everytime I cut the wheel all the way to the left it makes a LOUD vibration. It did it only once in a while when I first got the car, but now its all the time! What could be doing this? My PS fluid seems level too. Do I need to replace the pump? I hope not cuz I heard its like $250. And I want to put the $$ to a Y-Pipe!

Hmm, I dont think thats the problem, sounds like a motor problem or something. Plus, it only does it the first time you cut the wheel. It wont do it again until after to wait a while or when you first start up the car.

I have a similar problem with mine, usually occurs when I am stopped or moving fairly slow and cut the wheel all of the way. I have been told its just the pump getting old, and it can't move the fluid quite like it used to, so when you are pretty still it has to work harder to move the fluid. I am not sure how much to replace it, I haven't checked into that yet.

Old power steering pumps start making noise when they age. Can't remember if this means the pump itself is going or the belt just needs replacing (american cars sometimes had separate belt). I'll have to consult a service manual tonight because I've had the same noise once in a while at low/no speed too.

I had the same problem, but it shut off when it was turned. It was the pressure hose 100 for the hose, it was leaking bad. Now its fine, but if i cut it too fast when the car is cold it vibrates. Check if u have a leak somewhere..
