Finally raced my friends Seabring

It consisted of 2 races, one with his top down and one with his top up. There's a road at the front of my subdivision that has 2 lanes on each side and, although it has some light traffic,it has only 1 traffic light, and is almost NEVER patrolled by cops (too busy eating dougnuts). It stretches for about 1/2 with no signal, so it's pretty open.

On the first one he had his top down. We took off out of the light, and he got ahead of me for almost one second (I had a kinda slow reaction time), but once my auto shifted into second, I started passing him in no time. Man, that seabring is f**king slow when it comes to acceleration. By the time I was up to 60, he was at least 3 car lengths behind me. I started letting of the gas at 70, and he started catching me, but I was still at least 1 car length ahead of him in the end.

He didn't think it to be too fair that his top was down and I was giving him a half-a**ed effort to beat him. So, later that day, he put his top up and we raced the same stip of road, except going the opposite way.

I was faster than him through the light this time, but I didn't get very far ahead of him (about 2 car lengths) this time. I held there until about 65, when he started gaining on me. I totally flipped! I figured his car would never keep up, but for about 10 seconds, his car kept on gaining. He got to my door handle at the end. That scared the sh*t out of me!

I got up to about 85, and he probably got faster (I don't like going 2x's the speed limit). Even if I had kept the peddle all the way down, he probably would have still gained on me. That seabring may not be too fast off the line, but it chases you down once it gets going!

I probably would have done better if I didn't have the auto.

Ya...
well, when I have to use the center lane as a passing lane, I consider myself to be going fast enough.

Truthfully, I sucked out there. It was more busy than I expected during the second race, and I feel more safe driving on more open roads (freeways, etc...). I just don't like zippen by people going twice as fast as them.

Those sounded like some good runs. Atleast you won both races. I got some ?'s for you though. Were you running with the OD off or on?? I dunno about you, but my vg auto pulls pretty damn hard up top with the OD off. Maybe that has something to do with my modds, which leads me to my second ?. What modds do you have??

Thanks,
Kevin

just as i expected it. i knew you would kick his As$. feeling good don't you. Now you won't have to fear them anymore. Yeah 65MPH ain't good enough for me. I usually go pass a hundred. Try racing a vovol 740 Turbo. Slow picking up but once they do get up their strong at top end.

OD?
You mean Overdrive? I leave that on. When I punch it overdrive always kicks in and the back seems to drop down a little. It's pretty quick for an auto.

As for mods...
The only thing i've done to that engine is advance the timings, but that's not really a mod is it. Anyways, other than some cosmetics, my max is pretty basic. Most of the stuff is stock. I'm not gonna spend that much money on modding the GXE, though. I'm savin all my money to get myself a new 4th gen 5spd and I'll mod that like crazy.

TRY THIS
nice.... next time try racing with OD off it gives you more of a kick when your comming off the light.. but when your in the high 50-60mph it looses some power.

heres a good idea . switch in to 2nd (AUTO) and you will get more power. then when you hit 25-30mph switch it over to Drive

someone plz tell me if this could hurt your car in anyway .... i have been doing it every run and my car sounds and feels the same

i race with OD off the whole time. with it on it slows the car down. 3rd gear is the best gear for the max, it allows you to go up to 125 mph or above. with OD on it will take you forever to reach 125
