be careful... she might want you to start modding her car even more after you spoil her with the wheels and the ypipe haha. you gonna switch the rear strut casings around and put the disc brakes on hers too?

150K? My thinking was flawed. (I need another 2 wk. vacation)

Oh, sorry, I didn't know you had kids. Just make sure the new car doesn't get you like that one injury you got working on the Max, cuz those BMW's take no prisoners.

I like Pearl Sig suggestion.

I wonder if you will someday ask yourself (After VG Parting), I want another Max like InternetAutomar?

I doubt it, it has been a nice ride with this car, but i am ready to move on to something new. Though i doubt i will ever find a car with this much character.

Furthermore- is there anything you could have done other than parting her out? I don't think so.
Agreed, i could have replaced the trans, and sold it outright, but honestly, it's more of a personal thing with me.I don't want to see the car anymore period after it leaves my hands, locally, or on the forum, she was MY pride and joy for many years. and a want to keep it that way.

even now, years after jeff92se sold his car to 505max, i still see it as his maxima, not 505's(no offense to 505 ) and craig brace's car was sold to some kid thats on here also, again, i still see it as his car.

Greeny your making me sick again - I'm now looking at all these 740iL photos AGAIN. The iL is the extended version. I had a collection of JPEGs on my computer in my "dream folder" - but I ended up deleting it one day when the price of gas was through the roof. Now I don't drive as much so i'm VERY tempted to start looking into it again. I say take your time and you'll find an amazing deal on a 5 or 7.

From what I've been looking at the 7 series seems to lose it's value fast once it gets around 1999 and older...maybe even faster than the 5 series? Mostly old people drive them - and the odd drug dealer. 7 is the flagship - I say you go all out, and get my dream car. I also want to check out the LS400 Lexus - Brian (Interautomar) curious what are your thoughts on that model too (I note your comments on the 740 thread last year) - basically is there another luxury class like the 740iL but maybe cheaper to service...and maybe less complicated electronics?

The 7 is the limo greeny - I say you go for it, or at least test drive it, and maybe test drive the Lexus LS400. The 1998 740iL models are very reasonably priced. (I'm such a pathetic used car salesman)

I agree with Brian... I drove a 760 turbo for my first car and loved it. That thing was QUICK.

If I got another volvo though, it would be an S60R (300hp). Those look great and drive great. Very reliable as well. Check out www.evolvecars.com to look at the possibilities.

wasn't S60 FWD?

greeny- I actually do quite competitively on BMW parts.
there are a few for sale around here in your price range last I looked. Did you bother to see if you could get the rust covered in the recall (just curious, I know you tired of it)

By that logic you and your Bimmer are way l33ter than me...seeing that I want a Chevy with a low-tech pushrod engine and all...

BTW, spotted one and drove to today...Mint condition 93 with 70K (dark green ) Too bad the guy wants like 5 grand over bluebook...

On another OT note, I have my car again and I didn't even have to return to Houston to get it. How this happened will have to wait for a certain member to make a certain new thread...

I know, I went a little ADD with this post, but that's what happens when you're stuck in a hotel room for 2 months...

LT1 vette?
I'd try to scrape together a bit more and get a higher mileage LS1. they are very well designed from what I have read and getting a replacement motor when the time comes will be much easier since the LS series is still being used whereas the LT1 was very short lived (kinda like a VE) by comparison.

No brian, i didn't bother with the rust recall issue, i probably could have since the car was purchased new in new jersey, and spent about 6 years there..But in the end, i just don't give a hoopin crap anymore. i drove this car until i almost hated it. It's high time to move on to a new ride, with new problems..

but damn, i would love to hear some V8 rumble in teh driveway again..

My other set of jackstands were just too rusty to use so i threw them away.. they were older then me anyway

Not sure on the engine, if someone wants it whole, i guess $200 will get it.. If not then i will just part it out also.
