Rear Passenger Suspension Dropped Tonight - Repairs
I'm blitzed again, I've discovered that the cold is doing something to the shocks....interautomar - it's like you said, they actually froze..the fluid inside?
It's weird, the shocks are almost back to normal - it's just warmed up (to -10 C) here in Canada, from the coldest days this year. I still have to do the repair, the cracks in the road sound loud and abrupt, as well, it was very boingy during my test drive today.

I haven't had any other problems with this since i've posted. I've driven it over a series of speed bumps (test) and it feels fine all over again. Hasn't dropped since and it absorbs bumps just like before as well
and the mechanic i always go to says he hasn't run across anything like that before and doesn't see how it's physically possible (not saying it didn't happen) but he doesn't understand how

These rear shocks- at least the OEM ones- aren't completely sealed from the weather. the shocks can and do get a small amount of water in them... which at those temperatures will freeze.
Every year about this time, we see this happen to 1-2-3-4 cars on the .org. Hang around a while, you'll see it next winter too.

any shock/strut can freeze ESPECIALLY when it gets older. Moisture gets in past the piston seal and then freezes up.
my uncle has the same thing on his camaro right now. Frozen sport suspension FTL!
