Can i have Blue Speedo Meter?

Hello guys,

i have got several messages from many 3rg gen Orgers asking that how did you make your speedo meter look blue and that bright since LED bulbs doesn't make that kinda light output because they works like a laser, their light beam goes straight and makes several hot spots on speedo meter which doesnt really look good. We need blue 194 bulbs which spreads their light 360 and unfortunately Only LED 194s comes in such colors....so lets come to the point....

I used 194 LED bulbs yes LED but i used 194 4-SMD WEDGE LED bulbs which has 4 small leds on each bulbs instead of ONE and they spread like 360 not exactly but they works and over top of that they dont make hot spots on ur speedo and light output on ur speedo is even and nice looking. On the other hand, they dont use much power and stays cooler than normal or stock 194 bulbs u buy from local auto parts....o yeah they LAST LONGER WAY LONGER THAN stockys...heres the link where i got these bulbs from and heres the picture of them and plus my speedo meter picture....

looks good, man, my only worry is whether or not the blue really ****s with night vision (I have the worlds worst, so I stick with white, and nobody seems to be able to give a scientific based output on the matter)
if it isnt a concern, this is one mod that can be done pretty cheap (but $3.50 each? seems like I could build 'em cheaper than that, idk) and gives the car a new look at night.

Do they really look like they do in the picture? I am asking because I have wide lens led in my se cluster. They are not very bright and the end of the tach is dim almost like yours and so is the odo. But, if I take a pic, they look great in the pic. It's like dig cam compensate and make a bright visable pic. So mine look great in a pic but a bit disapointing in person.

not sure if the price was changed, but i followed that link and it was 3.98USD for a pair. thats not too bad 1.99 each is cheap enough!

Im ordering a set tonight!

Thanks for the post!

EDIT: i take it back. 3.98 + 5.99 shipping!! from China! ouch! $5 each is a bit pricey! anyone seen these cheaper stateside?

Any idea if these will work as well? free shipping but u have to buy 20 for $18USD. but the price point each is a LOT better!

dont buy those....u wont get any good output...and will have more light on some spots on ur speedo ( hot spots which doesnt look good )....i have tried millions of bulbs (including which u posted) searching for perfect led blue bulbs and those r the ones i finally got and have even 360 light around the speedo and u should consider lucky that i have done the search and found the perfect bulb which will %100% work and even they r pricy but they r worth the money cuzz they r gonna last u years without dimming out or fusing...

Were all the LEDs you used the same size? or did you use different sizes for different modules?

kinda. a red sharpie over the needles, and some blue cellophane stuck behind the gauges, then use white LEDs.

you could get the intelliglow needle kit. they used to cost about $80; i'm not sure what they go for now. they used to sell them in the group deals forum. you'd have to remove the needles to install the kit, though.

with that u r gonna have even more bigger hotspot on dash cuz they dont spread the light at 360 degree as i mentioned earlier in this post that these kinda bulbs only are good for a single button like gearbox light not if u wanna spread light on something big.....u need SMD LEDs and they spread the light around very nicely....

doesn't the current mustang use some RBG tri-color LEDs and just vary the voltage to each color, in order to make 127 different colors?

pop the black plastic cover thing off, then you can worm your hand under there and untwist the bulb socket. I have never done it but that's how it's done. You might have to remove the center console entirely (no biggie, 6 screws) to get enough room to get in there.

Sounds cool actually. That's the same type of idea that goes into the displays that ring around the entire top level of sports arenas. All they are is a sequence of red green and blue LEDS but have the ability to display hundreds of thousands of colors, not quite as versatile as an LCD, but cool none the less. And cost effective.

Nice work Burhan. It's hard to believe, but I did this mod about 8 years ago! (as you can tell from my mileage). The center needle never lit up properly though. But it didn't light up properly before I did the blue lights either.

it cant be all fused bulbs....so its either wiring from the climate control harness or climate control it self....tap on climate control or pull/push wires around on the back if it lights up then u have found the problem if not then i guess gotta get confused with wiring diagram and find the needle in dark...

well, just got the bulbs in today from Japan. didn't get the blue ones like i said earlier instead i got the white ones. installed them and what a difference!!! i love it but for some reason i emits like bluish hotspots and other areas just in white. could the gauge faces cause this or the bulbs? i will try and change the bulbs position from left to right of cluster. i'll try and post a pic of it so you guys can see what i mean.

I wouldn't expect the cluster itself to be the issue. If anything the bulb would give off a bluish hue.
Not sure what you mean in terms of changing bulb position from left to right of the cluster, unless you mean spinning the bulb in its socket so it emit light from a different angle?
Did you replace all the bulbs in the cluster?

what kind of bulbs did u get? can u post the pic of ur bulbs and dash?...i wonder if u just got the normal LED bulbs which have the ability to make hotspots right at where they go into cluster....
