Rear wheel bearings exist?

I'm swapping out the GXE rear drums from some rear disc brake action. So to plan ahead I trolled around and starting finding all the wear parts that I might need to replace (IE: brake line, E-brake cables, discs...so on). So I got to wheel bearings, and oddly enough nobody sells them.
Whats up with that? Do the rear bearings never wear out on our cars?

you have to buy the entire hub assembly...can't just get the bearing.

the hub unbolts from the knuckle.

wait, according to the pic in greeny's link, the strut assembly(?) is one part number for all six years, as well as disk/drum applications. I was under the impression that it was different for drums and disks, as well as some disks differed from one year to the next (thinking about caped's rear bbk thread) am I nutzo, or is Courtesy incorrect?

I understand the whole rear hub part. It just seems to be a dealer only part ($118+ shipping). I can not find a single parts store that has them.
I just find it quite odd that there is nobody making rear hubs/bearing for our cars.

The rear bearing failure rate is like next to nill, hence the "unavailability" of the part aftermarket. My 340k SE still has the original rear bearings, still just as tight/smooth as new..

Green - is it possible to service those rear or front GXE bearings by cleaning then re-greasing, even if they aren't acting up yet?

They are sealed/unserviceable bearings...replacement is the only option if bad.

I'm not wrong. (I'm never wrong! :P )

See that 1/2" additional shoulder on the strut on the right? that's there to make the bracket for the caliper fit without rubbing the wheel bearing and put everything at the right spacing/offset.

I figured that out 10 years ago when I did the first rear disc swap.

I didn't say you were wrong, just somebody.
caped also said there was a difference between (89-90) and (91-94) disc brakes. I was merely pointing out that teh linky above to courtesy was weird.
god, I hate buying parts online (or even looking at them) most of the time.

yea. 89-90 had a long bracket and a stubby torquemember. 91-94 had short brackets and longer torqemembers. That's why you can take the 89-90 bracket with 91-94 torqmemembers (and their calipers and ebrake cables) to make the extra just-over-an-inch clearance for z31 rotors. but take away the brake hardware and all disc brake strut casings are the same. the damping/rebound for the VE vs VGSE vs disc-eqipped GXE might be different, but the casing, hub, bearing, etc are all the same
