Led tail suggestions

Well guys i am thinking about doing another set of tails for my car since i am selling the ones on them. I am trying to figure what i want to do. My first plan was to use more leds to fill it out more than the first. The second design i was thinking about doing was having two rows of leds as marker and 3 or more rows for brake. This would make wiring easier but not sure if thats what i want to do.

If you have any idea please let me know. I am open to ideas.

are you interested in using the 89-91SE style, with the clear outer shell? You could get hella creative with that.... Still road legal cuz it has the red reflectors and all.

Dunno if you're feelin' this... not-full-brightness 2 rows across on the bottom part (where you normally have the white/amber bulbs) as your running lights. Then on the main part that is normally the brake lights... 2 circles, 2 rows deep, for the brakes. Then a small cluster (perhaps easiest to just se the 1156 LED pre-made bulbs for this) of white on the inner ones, and amber on the outer ones. Kinda like the LED ring ones they have for the 4G.

this is similar to what i'm talking about... just minus the oogleh covers and this one doesn't have the lower running light bar like i mentioned.... i guess you could say it's a page i borrowed from Volvo/BMW/Mercedes having a dedicated brakelight on each side separate from the running lights. Heck i even snipped the running light wire for my inner 1157 bulbs so that the low-wattage filament is disabled.

Now i do like that but the bad thing is that the lens is clear red not clear. Plus with the car being as square as it is the circles just dont do it for me. Not knockin the tails. I think they are hot. As far as tails yes im using the 89-91 tails this time.

the outer shell of the 89-91SE is clear-clear, with the diffuser being red. I have a tiny crack in my diffuser panel, and the light shines through white. so you're 'in the clear'. The 89-91 GXE ones are red-on-clear.. I have a spare set of 89SE ones that aren't in the best of shape if you just wanna screw around with them before making a final version.

but, if the circles don't float your boat.. i can draw up some other ideas when i get back

do you want some? they were the ones i got from jonmandude.. he tinted them but i sanded it off so they aren't exactly shiny, BUT they'd be great to hack up and screw with to see if it's a look you are going for or not, before you spend money on a more expensive mint-condition set. You'll just want to have some sort of thin plastic sheet with holes drilled in it to match the LED positions unless you want the bare circuitboard showing through. PM me if interested.

Photos look fine to me. shame that the reflector is in the middle, but nothing you can do about that.

What about doing two round donuts in each one with the LEDs like in Skyline R32 tails?

Ya, sorry I missed that link to the round tails earlier. I have a set of R34 Tails that I want to install at some point and would like to add LEDs to them. But if I don't get around to doing all that custom body work I might just mod my stock taillights to have that look. I think instead of the two smaller even circular light patterns a larger outside and smaller inside circle would look better, kind of like the R34 Skyline tails or the Infiniti G35/M35-45.

I like the G35 concept for the stock housing... Check this out, it could be quite helpful if you decide to go that route:

Newer BMW's dont use larger leds persay but do have reflectors. They are using snap leds which arent but .1mm larger. The reflectors make the diff.
