I cut out the mesh a little bigger than the frame. Then from behind, I "stuffed" the mesh inside the back of the frame (in the hollow part). It's actually hard to explain without pics, but it looks recessed from the front. When I was happy with the depth, I put some (4?) screws which held the mesh onto the frame. I think James92se's webpage has some nice instructions.

Sorry, but I no longer have those instructions on my site. Geocities was being a pain about bandwidth, and passing the monthly site hit "quota" so I had to remove some files. The mesh grille how-to was the least viewed part of my site, so I decided to take that down.
