Synthetic gear oil and STS
the shifting on the manual trans in my 91 is very notchy...any when i try to chirp 2nd,it grinds like syncrowear.i posted last week about slave cylinder goin and havin no pressure and tryin to shift without any clutch and i think i may have damaged the transmission, when i drive it makes like a whining noise that gets louder through the rpms but only when its in gear...now someone told me to change my gear fluid with redline synthetic gear oil...i was thinkin there is pieces of metal in the fluid and i just need to get it cleaned out, either that or the trans is just goin..would anyone know what they think might be goin on...and i was curious about how much a short throw shifter goes for and who makes it

about sts
I got mine from ww.CustomMaxima.com it cost me like $110 for mine. I havent installed it yet but if you read the desrciption on his page it will tell you about it. I know some Sts's only shorten the hieght and not the actuall throw.

Do your self a favor and get 5QTS of REDLINE MT90 for your tranny, shifts better when cold than the crude gear oil does when it is hot. Crude gear oil is a waste. I've had redline in every tranny of every car I've owned since 1997. Best thing you can do for a tranny. Courtesy Nissan sells it, $8/Qt.
