All I have to say is that his car is no louder than stock. It is absolutly silent, even with the 2.5in piping and no resonator. All you hear is the pop intake. Its been a long time since I heard a VG scream .

You would have to ask Bret. Maybe if we would have done some rollons before the muffler install we'd know. But one thing is for sure if you have just intake/Ypipe/exhaust becareful running against V6 mx6 5spds and PGT (Probe GTs) with at least I/E. His car held the longest from a 2nd gear 40mph roll, but a 3rd gear 60mph = VG 5spd gets walked badly . There is no doubt that if the 3rd gen dropped 300lbs it would run 15.2-15.6s all day.

I was wondering this myselve. I have done a search in this forum and lotf of people say that catback exhaust upgrade is for looks and sound. It doesn't give you the kind of performance gain like Y-pipe. I don't want to add any sound to my car. But my muffler and tip is prety rusty and ugly. What would you recommend me to get?

Thanks.

If you want slightly better performance and don't want to spend alot get a 00+ max muffler and 2.5in catback piping. Its the SBD mod (Silent But Deadly) hehe .

if you want power the Y-pipe is the way to go...a muffler really isn't going to add very much in the way of HP...if it looks like sh*t though by all means replace it with a new one

What's the pros and cons of getting just a 00 max muffler? A local shop wants $400 CDN for a catback, i thought that was ridiculous for just a little gain, not to mention the added noice that i don't want. I mean, if i get a muffler without enlarge b pipe, is that any cons about this? Back pressure and etc? By the way, i'm getting a y-pipe soon.

Thanks.

I have a Y-pipe with stock exhaust setup. If I wanted to get all I can out of my car, but remain quiet...would you recommend a 2.5" Carsound Cat w/ a custom 2.5" B-pipe w/ stock muffler? Will the new Cat really help at all in performance? Also, I plan on going to a muffler shop and get them to bend me a 2.5" B-pipe...is this okay? It's cheap. Also, will the 2K Muffler help much over my stock? Thanks for any info.

Bump

There's nothing wrong with my stock Cat, b-pipe, or muffler. Should I change it to 2.5" (Cat and piping) and stick with my stock muffler?

This is my idea of the perfect and most quiet exhaust. WSP Y,stock cat,2.5in B pipe, and a 2K muffler. That should get you all the power you can out of an exhaust system. Ask Dallas with WSP a cat will really do nothing...

I couldn't agree with you more. If you currently have a straight thru muffler and desire a lower noise level a resonator will not help. Ask me how I know this My $0.02, do whatever ehaust mods you want before the muffler, just use a OEM or a after-market muffler that's not straight thru. Of course a straight thru muffler will yield better performance but you will have to live with the droning
