No power to the ECU/No Spark
Ok, 89 max VG30E engine. Just did an engine swap. I have no spark or power to the ECU or fuel pump. I've check the ENG.CONT relay and the 25A fuse under the hood both were good. When I jumpered pins 2&5 on the ENG.CONT relay then I hear the fuel pump the ECU lights up. Somebody please tell me what the issue may be

have you tried a new relay? did you check for voltage on the coil-circuit of the relay harness (dunno what pin #s ) when the key is on? if the coil circuit pins have voltage and jumping the 2 pins you jumped makes the ECU turn on then that means that the relay is bad.

just yank a relay off some other not-needed-for-this-test plug an see if it works (like one of the radiator fan relays or something). if that fixes it then go get another relay and plug it in and you're good to go.

b) did you check for voltage on the not-close-together pins of the ECCS relay? it should also always be present.

Ok, update I bought an engine control relay and I heard click with the key on. I now have power to the ECU and I hear the fuel pump come on but still no spark. I check for voltage at the distributor and it's good, I still have no spark. Any ideas? The distributor, coil, rotor and cap have been changed out.

it's on the same harness as the ign coil... it looks like a capped connector, but it actually has something in it.
also the power transistor (3-wire plug in front of the coil)

Hey Cape the coil and transistor are good. I think my ECU may have a bad ignition circuit. Acoording the FSM the ECU generates the ignition singal which is then sent to the transistor and the voltage is then stepped up by the coil. I don't think the ECU is sending an ignition signal.

Well after going to through every piece of the wiring harness and running various checks. I tried another power transistor (The other two tested fine) in a last ditch effort and my MAX fired up!!! I do have a splitting headache, more taping of the harness and some tuning to do but other than that this case is closed!!
