Injector Changing Tip!

Injector Changing Tip!

I keep meaning to post this.

Dont fight with your injectors trying to pry them out, wiggle them out with a pair of pliers and screwing up your plastic, and dont try to vise grip the suckers out with all your force.

Simply turn over the fuel rail take a 11mm deep well socket place it over the injector...tap the 11mm socket with a hammer, and it pops right out.

Just thought that tip might help everyone out that is struggling getting the injectors out of the rails.

For grins I decided to verify this method on a spare fuel rail I have lying around...

It works nicely! Good job infinitiblast. I'll put this one in my bag of tricks.

Those looks like the newer 4th gen style injectors?
For me I needed to save the one's I was taking out, so I'm afraid this method might bust the pintle cap on the old VG style injectors..they stick a little farther out then those do.

They are VE injectors(same as 4th gen injectors btw) This method will break off the little fingers on the newer style pintle caps, but it doesn't hurt the injector at all, the main part of the pintle remains intact(the part that holds the lower o'ring). I have two of these injectors(from the video) in my current maxima right now, both were removed with this procedure.

Yeah, that works if the injectors are junk, but if you were re using them I wouldn't recommend that method.

Do any of you n00bs read? I have two these injectors from this rail in the video in my car at this very moment, they work fine. All you have to do is not let them hit the ground upon removal from the rail.

Ugh..

I did read. I wouldn't use injectors that I removed that way. That's just me. You can do whatever you like.

I'm glad to take advice anytime, but I tried your method a while back on an old set of VG injectors and it broke the pintle caps and dented the metal on the nozzle. I don't know if the caps are necessary but denting the nozzle doesn't seem like a good idea if your re using the injector. I'm just giving my opinion from my past experience.

What Do You Recommend?
Most of the time I can just twist them out, but if they are really stuck what infinitiblast started this thread saying sounds pretty good. If the socket rests on the body of the injector you won't do any harm. And make sure the injector doesn't fall onto the floor. Have your vice swivel over your workbench and put a towel underneath it so it lands softly.

just a FYI...it doesn't do damage to the injector but the shock will break the pintle cap...so be ready with new caps.
