Unlock trunk to start car?

Hey there folks.

I'm having a bit of a problem with the stock security system in my '91 Maxima SE. When I unlock the doors, get in and try to start the car, it doesn't turn over. The horn relay will start clicking like mad (horn itself is broken) and the security light blinks rapidly. To start the car I have to pop the trunk, then close it again, then everything works fine. This issue only happens when the doors are locked. I've popped out the security fuses and the problem persists. Anyone else here happen to run across this weird issue? If so, how do I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

try unplugging the security control unit until you have time to figure out what is causing the problem (either bad solder joints in the box, or bad wiring somewhere)

Yes, I am sure its the factory alarm system. There is no key fob or anything.

yea 3rd ges don't have key fobs. SE only has a key, and GXE has keypads under the handle.

The thing is....it will definatly keep people from steeling my car (who would think to pop the trunk to start the car), but its really a freaking hassle when its raining or really hot.

When I get my car back from the mechanic (replacement injector and leaky as hell valve covers) I'll poke around the security controller and see whats up.

I had the same issue with my gxe, but it was always the driverside door lock that would not pop up all the way. When I locked all the doors, and then go back to get in the car, the alarm would immediately go off, so I would either have to put the key in the driverside door, or open the trunk to shut the alarm off. I finially got tired of doing it, I tried pulling the anti-theft fuse also, but it did no good. you have to unscrew the lower dash panel under the steering wheel to unplug the main anti-theft control device, after you unplug it, no more alarm!

I had a 94 SE with factory remote keyless entry. I'm sure it was a dealer option/install.

look for the tread here, you get the 7 digit code from the gold box, behind the glovebox, enter it into the keypad, while its beeping enter your new code, and it will beep 3x when it accepts it, try uyour new code, it should work normally

Jinxz209 is right people will steal anything I had my 89' stolen while I was at a restaurant but the police found it just like it was a week later. That's crazy as hell, starting the car by popping the trunk. haha

I had someone steal a volvo 940 that I had parked in front of the house close to Christmas. The ke was broke and you didnt need a key to start it. I found it parked at the end of the block lol. They drove it about 400 feet and left it!!!

Talk about a piece of ****!!!
