Yes - 4x6 Plates
You got it - 4x6's in the front. Keep in mind, (if you are replacing your Bose system), that Bose tuned the small front speakers to compliment the big 6x9's.
However, an off the shelf 6x9 setup in the rear (IMHO) will drown out your off the shelf 4x6's. Forget about Crutchfield "what fits my car" advice. Get 6 & 1/2 speakers installed in the front. An installer will build a box for them inside your door panels where the 4x6's used to be.
If you can, go with a component setup and get a lot more bang for your buck.
An installer put it to me this way, "Be patient and save up for what you really want. Throwing a hundred bucks at it because it's all you have is just throwing money away. You might as well just keep your stock system."
Just some food for fart...er... thought.

Your gonna kick yourself...
When you read my post again...
The part where it says "Get 6 & 1/2 speakers in the front."
If you have the money (around $320-$350) You can probably come away with Boston Acoustics Pro Series 6.5 on eBay. Being component speakers, these come with woofer and tweeters seperated and include a crossover for each speaker. With a component set of speakers, an installer now has the ability to tune your speakers for optimal acoustic presence in your particular car. Tweeters can be mounted in a different location from the woofer, as opposed to COAXIAL speakers which puts the high/mid/bass all in the same location. *Note: Component speakers require an amplifier.
Also look at the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 speakers. These also handle gobs of power and are very popular.
Moving down the price chain, I quite like the Boston Acoustics (again) The Boston Rally RC620 speakers ($200 - $220 on eBay) are very capable and far superior when compared to basic Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood stuff.
AS FOR THE REAR 6x9 speakers...
These are less important than the front speakers in my humble opinion. Being 6x9 in size, they are large enough to fill the space amply, and unless you are a fanatic, you will find traditional consumer coaxials work just fine. The Pioneers you mentioned will do the trick. If you feel the need for a more booming thumping glass shattering experience, you can always add a Subwoofer later.
Okay...my fingers are bleeding now. Must go soak in Palmolive.

Why?
Anything bigger than the original factory enclosure, which is 4x6, will require modification to fit the bigger speaker. So why go 5.25 when you can now put in a 6.5? And again, your front speakers will have to compete with the huge 6x9's in the rear. It only makes sense to get as big a speaker in the front as is possible.

I Just changed my speakers 1hour ago and i put 5.25 in front they
where component speakers the only modification i did was the cutting
for my tweeters. I used the same speaker basket that came with the factory bose system

One question...
Who the hell would spend $300+ on speakers!? I went out and replaced my Active speaker system with some 2way Pioneer speakers in the back ($50) and some 4x6 Pioneer speakers in the front ($65). I replaced the head unit with a Sony CD player (sendin 52Wx4) and my sound system is pretty damn loud and sharp. It really doesn't matter how great the speakers are; if you're really going for an ultimate sound system, it's the subs that matter. Get some decent speakers (about $50-75 for the pair) for the inside, and spend all the good money getting one big-a** amp and 2 or so subs (800W each will do). Get some lining for the inside of your trunk and licence plate, and you're set to go.
Hey, I thought expensive speakers meant better, but my friend proved me wrong. He has a 6-CD changer hooked up to a 50Wx4 Minidisc head unit in his truck. 2 speakers in the front (each $120), 1 in the back ($80) and a bazooka tube hooked up to an amp in the back. I parked my car next to his truck one day and we compared our sound systems. His bazooka tube doesn't hit real hard (truthfully, I didn't notice it too much), but in the end his speakers sounded no better than mine. Sure at high volumes you could tell his was a little bit sharper, but we got it so loud that we had to use my remote to control the Minidisc player.
Unless you listen to music so loud that it makes your ears bleed, just get some decent speakers and go all-out on the subs.

well ill get my 2 cents in here heheheh.. i fit 6.5 components up front and some 2 ways in the back..all kenwood.. 150 bucks for all 4 corners hehe.. and i must admit it sounds damn good for not being amped. people ask how much cause they think i paid a lot more then i actually did. and if ia got an amp it would sound even greater, but its loud enough where it goes anyways. if you wanna see my shizznit check my homepage.

Comparing systems by seeing who's distorts first means squat. I'm glad your happy with your system though. Enjoy it. And I'll enjoy mine.
Peace.
