Are the ends of the injector tips replaceable?

I got about 4 injectors from the junk yard. I removed them from the fuel rail by putting a socket over them and bamming them out. In the process the little plastic part that covers the end tip where the fuel sprays into the cylinder was damaged, and some even broke. So I went to the dealer to see if they carried that little part, and they told me the injector is bad and I would have to buy a new one. I was wondering if this is tru??

Do you need them? I thought I remember Greeny saying they weren't necessary.

An injector service guy will usually have them in stock and just ship you a few of them in a bag for free. I had to call around, but eventually found a guy that just sent them to me for no charge. Sorry, I don't remember my source or I'd PM you...
