Just about the same here.... 235/45/17's with a +30 Offset (17X8 Mustang GT wheels) with rolling the rear fenders (Rolled cuz I have a 1.6" drop, and I carry alot of crap in the trunk for work )

Why is no one talking about ride height? That's important! If you're dropped 1.2" you can get away with a little more than if you're dropped 2.0" or not even being dropped at all...

and the condition of your struts... i rubbed the rear fender really bad (was gouging the sidewall, eventually would have cut the tire down) on stock SE springs with blown struts when i had the 17x7+22mm and 225/50/17 setup.

Clearance is *somewhat* independent of ride height on a 3 gen. As long as you clear the fender lips, then you shouldn't have a problem elsewhere. the only time I rubbed on my car was the tread would rub the top of the fender well when I was loaded down and hit big dips in the road. no tire damage there- just kept recoating the fender well with undercoater every few months to keep corrosion down.

anyhow i was wondering if you had any more pics of the 265's on a 17x8 rim (i assume you ran 265 40 17?)

Here are some pics:

That's on eibach springs, 1.2" drop. What you can't see is the ~1/4" clearance between the strut and tire :-p

As for the car, I flipped it a couple weeks ago. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to fix it (it would need new roof, pass front door + fender, hood) or to part it out completely and buy something different.

FLIPPED it?! WTF mate?! ouch!
Since you're posting on here, I take it you're okay... WTF happened man?
Why'd you have to go and destroy that beautiful car?
Please tell me you killed the car while swerving to save the life of a herd of babies crossing the road or something....

I was tuning it on E85, looked down for a split second, and there was a turn ahead and something jumped out in front of me. I swereved and mistakenly tapped the brakes, and the rear end came flying around and I spun out into a plowed field and the driver side wheels caught and launched it. Landed on the passenger side roof and rolled back onto the tires. I got out perfectly fine, luckily. All the mechanicals are fine, and it runs and will probably drive alright, but has a decent amount of body damage on the roof and passenger front.

well glad to hear your okay man... that sucks....

Matt -

I agree with your assessment of clearing the fenders, as it makes perfect sense... if someone wanted to run a width that interfere with the fenders there's no need to worry... but I don't understand some claims on the forum of running 17X8 235/45/17s or even 245/45/17s and a 30-33mm offset without rolling at least the rear fenders... unless they NEVER have anyone or anything in the backseat or trunk of the car... I rubbed like a mother when I put on my 235s (cut like a mother is more like it, messed up those sidewalls nice and good) in the rear till I rolled them... still get a rub on the front here and there on heavy bumps...

I can't remember if I rubbed w/ my setup but I was always on Eibachs that only lowered about 1-1.5"

I ran 245-45-18s on the front when I had the G35 coupe 18s. Rubbed when I had the steering wheel at full lock

Damn.. there's that turning and braking again.. When will FWD people figure out those two things don't mix?! Especially black 3 gens!
(Kaleb just about totalled his as well cause he hit the brakes in a corner. FUBARd the front end when he spun and nailed a tree with the airbag sensor.) Then again, that was like 10 years ago!
