I was wondering if anyone out there is a good FF drifter because the other day i was on this mountain road with my friend he has a 87 300zx and he was going pretty fast so i gunned my car hard and we hit a corner and i drifted my car a little bit but it was hard to keep it under control, So i was wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to drift a FF car?

I'm not trying to rag on anyone, I'm just curious what'll happen if you try
Yeah the mountain roads are hard to stay on but it is about all i have down here. Some times i use the e-brake but half the time i just go really fast and before the corner turn real hard and my back end kicks out. But the only thing i hate is understeer.

Drifting a RWD car is done by breaking the rears loose w/ the throttle and controlling the drift by the throttle.
Attempting to drift a FWD is done by coming into a turn fast and braking fairly hard. This puts the weight on the frt end and may get the rears loose. If you don't have a RSB, you might a well forget it. It's plow city. But the thing is you have to use the BRAKES. This ruins the rest of the drift. Basicly you are doing the last half of the drift at 1/2 the speed you were doing before you are into the turn. Great huh?

in a FWD car, and ive learned that drifting isnt
the fastest way through a corner anyway..
i watched that initial D like nuts a few months back
and wanted to drift like mad, but now i've learned better
i dont do a lot of mountain racing but i like doing
it and its pretty fun...
the closest thing i've done to drifting in my car
is popping the ebrake a lil bit in a turn to help
me rotate the car better... besides that, pretty hard to do
now i got my rsb, screw the crap ebrake

Oh yeah, but i have watched Initial D a while back but yeah after watching it you really want to drift but i was just trying some ways to take corners. But yeah trying to drift a FWD car is very hard but it will take practice
Depending on you tires you can lower the pressure in them. This reduces their traction which will make the rear want to step out. You have to be very careful though, too little air or too soft of a sidewall and the tire will roll off the wheel.
This will ruin your tire though, eiher from excessive wear, or from the tire falling apart.

Thanx for the tips i just got done trying the one where you go pretty fast in the corner and brake kinda hard and it made it drift for a sec then it wanted to understeer so i just floored it and it took off a little wobbley.

anyways.. its not a good idea to try to drift in a FWD car. its fun to do 180's and like sway drift (swinging back and forth) , thats about all i can really do in the maxima.
drifting in a fwd is actually slower then just taking the turn at high speed. and using your left foot to controll the braking.
so takumi, if you wanna take a high speed turn, use your left foot, to slightly keep your car under control, while giving the accelerator some power.. u have to kinda do both at the same time. its the best way to drive a fwd car.
otherwise dont even try to drift a fwd its pointless it will just make you slower , oh yah using the ebrake during the turn can help but not wise, usually it will just make you slow down and make your rear end swing out.. which is pointless on a fwd car. you can use the ebrake to correct your turn, if you like wanna point your car at an angle you didnt get it in the first place.
