auto tran. problem

heads up to those with 3rd generation maximas. get transmission checked out for metal chips. torque converter spits small metal chips into clutch chamber and eats away the walls, therfore lowering pressures inabling the car to shift through 3 gear.

I doubt it matters both have TCs so it will happen in both! I know most of our cars have a magnet on the drain tube to help with this also.....

I will guess by his name that he has a 90, which raises the question... is his the same as mine?

I am not trying to be a smart a s s, but actually trying to get knowledge... I didn't know that TC's did that if they are beat on... sorry DA-MAX...

thats another advantage of Protorques high stall converter, its internal components are welded opposed to the OEM converters "free floating" internals, I'm pretty sure that cuts down on metal shavings as well.

and the only reason I know that some of the later models are the same is because at one time Don was offering his VB mod for the VE Maxima and if I remember correctly a few of the late model 3rd gen GXE owners actually had trannys compatible with Dons VB(thus the same VE tranny minus VLSD??)....I also heard that after '92, NIssan rebuilt the GXE trannies since they had so many probs with the 89-91's!

If you guys are that worried, get the tranny oil analyzed every once in awhile by Blackstone or whoever
