they click when you turn; that's how you tell.

if you look a the half shaft, you will see rubber boots. they shouldn't be ripped.

edit: found this
you see the rubber boots on each end? teh left one is shot, and the right one is fine.

mine was a few hundred, but get it fixed soon because your axle can get "infected" and you might end up needing a new axle, which happened to me hence why it was so pricey

bish it was like $224.32, and the place i go to knows stuff. my starter has been bad for the last year and it died a few days ago (its what caused me having to rock my Max), called Canadian Tire, "got no starters for that make, no other stores do either, bye". Called the small place i always go to, "no prob, bring it in and we'll get you a starter". ended up getting a new starter for the price of a reman because they couldnt find a reman one.

Canadian Tire is seriously racist against imports too (not kidding), unlike the place i go to

So that's where my clicking sound is probably coming from. Guys at Canadian tire told me everything was fine in the direction and told me it was bad bushings making the "clicking" noise when turning. I haven't been there since they fixed my brake lines and the next day my ABS light comes on, go back and say it's not their fault and just unplug the ABS plug...

Also told me the front bushings are not sold seperatly and that I need to buy the whole 'table' (don't know if that's the word in english, but it's the big metal piece with bushings in the front on each side.) that are about 150$ each. Don't know this is true, couldn't really find the answer if I could just get the bushings..

man just dont listen to Canadian Tire, i went there to see if they could swap my stock exhaust for a aftermarket, they said that 3rd gens can only have stock exhaust, and a new one would be $250 when my stock was in alright shape and i wanted a aftermarket one

went to Thrifty Muffler and got my Magnaflow catback on with a free tip for $220. Canadian Tire also said its near impossible to fit rims bigger than 15's on 3rd gens they said to just go to TireCraft "to try to get larger rims on a little Honda import" (example of their import racism)

Canadian Tire has been off my list for a long time, I remember getting an estimate from them for about $2200 for repairs when I went for the click noise. Went to another garage and the estimate there was about $600, and when they did the repairs it actually came down to about $500. Mind you there was other stuff to be fixed at the same time. But from $2200 to $500? Screw them I say.

Also now I try and do all the repairs myself to save me some money instead of being screwed over by mechanics who know less about my car than I do. Can't wait to start my mechanics course in august, Then it'll be goodbye garages for good. Already have my welding/fitting done.

How can one be racist against a car?

Also, that's ironic since alot of Hondas are/were made in Canada..

no kidding the last time i went there for work done was a few months ago and it was for new tires, my 2 year old all-seasons were really worn and one had a bad leak that you could hear from a few feet away. they had a sale on so i got new rubber from them, but thats the last time i go there for work done since with summer rims now i can go Falken rubber for summer and whatever for winter rubber vs. all seasons

Canadian Tire is good for other stuff though like replacement headlights and stuff, binder and everything with what number you need from 1989 and up, and their computers sometimes have older models with what you need. i'll always go there for stuff like wax, cloths, clay bar, scratch buffer, replacement bulbs, etc. but their garage is just
