thermostat?

My thermostat is sticking. I have one from autozone in there, but every once in awhile it will be stuck shut, then stay stuck open. Somethimes the temp guage is just past the cool mark and others it will start to get hot then cool down. Never boiling over.

I am about 100% sure its the thermostat because the radiator is new. Any input on this? Should I get a oem nissan unit or could it be something else?

wow the price went up. I have a Nismo thermostat from Nismoshop.com. Right now they are $55. I tested it and it works fine.

Just pick up an OEM T-stat and you wont regret it. Its about 26 bucks local unless you don't mind waiting for shipping.

Also as to the temperature, be sure your system is fully topped off and has been bled with no air whatsoever to ensure the best heat

"Mission Critical" parts should be OEM or better.

Thermostat, while simple and inexpensive, is mission critical, as you've found out.

Or will, once it sticks (and stays stuck) closed.

I bet you this is your problem...elevate the front of the car and pop the radiator cover and bleed the air out of your system.

that was the problem.....i stuck a funnel in the radiator and got all the air out. I've done this 3x now and I believe all the air is out. My temp is consistent too.

this problem turned out to be many things, including a bad radiator cap (original one) and just today I found a pinced rear coolant line.

Car runs great with plenty of heat and a constant temperture.
