heard of them, used to sell them.
Not a top quality pad.
ceramics have certain qualities that are good (less noise/dust) but don't stop as well as a good semi-metallic in my opinion.
Nissan did originally use ceramics on the 3rd gen, using a semi-met will result in more noise and dust

i'm using ceramics on mine (can't remember brand name right now) and they are very quiet, no squealing or anything like that. I did notice that they did seem to build up a bit more heat (not much) after a thorough drive. If given the opportunity i'd buy them again. IIRC they also have a longer life expectancy

I have Duralast all the way around with no trouble for over 2 1/2 years! Of course, I haven't driven the car more than 10 miles in a year. I want to upgrade to bigger brakes, but don't want to change wheels for cost issues........
Would a particular combination of rotors and pads encourage better overall performance as well as decent life expectancy?
I plan on strapping a lot of gear to the car for road tripping, so I naturally don't want to over do the stock setup, which has never really felt weak or given me trouble in all of the situations I have put the car in previously

search the forum for Z31 upgrade to see what you will need.

well if not for john being too lazy to fix the mis-labelling error he made on the pictures, the writeup would be nice. but also it says nothing about how to do the z31 upgrade on a 89-90 car that already has the adapter bracket you need... maybe i'll make a better writeup one of these days when i take the brakes off for benstoked.

oh i know it is that simple.. but it's not actually mentioned in john's writeup. his writeup just says "go get a 89-90 """torque member""" (which is wrong in itself) and put it on and there you go" so anyone with a 89-90 SE is just left scratching their head about what they need until they find the posts i made in that or other threads. and iirc the 91 has the later style caliper/tqmember as well. I mean the pads on the older style calipers are PATHETICALLY tiny, plus you can tell by the ebrake cable tip of course. And you can swap the ebrake hooks on the caliper to be able to use stock 89-90 disc brake cables on the later style calipers (of course if you are converting from drums you have to get disc cables regardless so minus whale get the right ones)
yea, the 'bracket' as you call it is what the FSM calls the "torque member", not what John called the "torque member". I don't know why but that gaffe of his burns me to no end. Probably because a few people got confused enough by what he posted to think they needed parts they didn't need.
