Tranny light comes on only when...
Alright I have searched the threads and haven't found anything similar to my problem. Since last week i have being experiencing a lil problem with the transmission(VE), i would be driving down the road and then all of an sudden, the RPM's jump up to like 5 and then shift(slight bang). Every time this happens(once in a blue moon) the tranny light blinks for a lil bit then shuts off. the funny thing is it only does it at apporx. two speed ranges and that like 30-40 and around 70-80. I know these transmissions are suppose to last a while, I'm leaning towards something on the electrical side, because at other times the tranny shifts very smooth. Ant thoughts on what this might be? shift solenoid coming on when it's not suppose to? Thanks for the help! Also, does anyone no where the scan tool hook-up for the tranny cpu is? I've only found the one for the engine.

try running the TCU Self Diagnostic.

I did the test today and the results were good. i also had the battery checked and that was good. Where should i go from here, I was wondering if other components under the hood can interfere with the transmission signal

Sounds like it's downshifting to first from third on its own without you stepping on the gas.. Electrical problem. If it were me i'd start narrowing down the cause by replacing the throttle pos. sensor, drop resistor, and then TCU if first 2 don't fix the problem. I have all 3 from a 69k mile VE, you can have them for cheap if you want.

If the diagnostic test showed that the sensors were okay, you might check the plugs with an ohm meter to see further what could be acting fishy. The link above shows how to do that as well. If you have an FSM, use it! If not, check here, and you will find all the info you need. Your tranny is the RE4F04 under AT. Have fun!

i'm leaning towards your tps also.
i had a vg and at ceratin throttle position 1st-2nd was a delay.
i replaced the tps problem solved.
i noticed my q45 does what your ve is doin too. evry once in awhile but it does'nt rev that high though.

I'm back again with another statement, so i had got a tps and replaced the one that was giving me the problem. For the first two days didn't give me any problem, but after that the same problem starting happening again. so yesterday I did another TCU test and it was the third flash(TPS) that was longer than the others, so in my head I'm like I just replaced it. Later in the day i took another drive and did another TCU test this time no flicker was longer than the others = Self diag. test ok. One question I have is if the TPS is not adjusted correctly(although I did do the procedure to adjust) would it show up in the TCU test? Also, could it be that this TPS is bad? Thanks for inputs.
