Temp gauge...

I drove a total of 100 miles today and tonight on my way home I glanced at my temp gauge and saw that it was about 1/4 above C. Then about a minute later it looked as if it was going lower. I was driving about 55-60 and finally the needle went below C! I thought this was odd b/c I was driving the car around for 2 hours straight. It kept going above and below C until I got home. What does this mean? The needle is almost ALWAYS just under half way. Any Ideas?

by the way, it was about 40*F tonight when I noticed it.

sounds like you need a thermostat. not too hard to do yourself adn pretty cheap. good time to flush coolant while you're at it. . .

When it's cold outside and I am running my heater full blast. I've noticed that my temp needle will sometimes get a 1/4 above the C. But, it won't stay there. It usually stays just below halfway. But, if your needle gets as low as yours, there's something wrong.

Okay, I think this may be the problem. So how much is a new thermostat? and how hard is it to replace? I havent done this to my car yet. Thanks.

Its either the thermostat or a sensor for the temp gauge. It may even
be that the needle in the gague pod may even be off... More than likely it is one of the first two...

I have also noticed that at times my heat isnt as flaming hot as it used to be. It take way longer to warm up than it used to. Does this have anything to do with it?
