Installed JWT ECU Finally!

WOwwwwww! The driveability is awesome and I really have to watch how I apply the throttle. I found myself zooming thru my neighborhood @ 55-60 mph with just about 1/8-1/4" of throttle tip in....Even cruising on the freeway @ 65-70 mph I'm pretty much just resting my foot on the throttle and feathering it. The acceleration is more rapid than the OEM Ecu. The part throttle behavior is excellent and full throttle is a monster but I'm still trying to stay out of WOT till I get 1500 miles on this engine assembly. I'm very pleased with how my combination of mods are working together!

I don't think there are gonna be any Nistune home tuned Ecu's out there that will run as smoothly/flawlessly/responsive as the JWT ecu, I've seen alot of home tuned and specialist tuned ecu's before with all kinds of hiccups/drama!....Cost $595.00, I bought mine in 2006.....

have fun when the temps get above 90 degrees and you have to retard your timing and run 93 octane all the time and it STILL pings.

but yeah it's a fun ride until then!

He can always switch back to the OEM ECU in the Summer and use the JWT in the Winter...$595.00 is not chicken feed boys.

I wish I would have grabbed a VE5 one when Stillen had them on clearance. Didn't you get one James?

I just didn't have the money at the time.

Actually, now I have to buy some tires for my 17s when I finish painting them.

I run 93 octane in all my cars 24/7 so thats no biggie! As far as when it gets hot, that's not a problem either, my Air intake is getting cooler air 24/7, it's not sucking that underhood air......Plus my ignition burns the air/fuel charge more completely since I'm running a higher output Ignition system that can burn paper, wood, or anything you can throw at it.....

nah it's not the same for you as the OP. the OP has an internally modified engine.. and the setup he is using is more sensitive to detonation/pinging than an internally-stock VG by a pretty decent amount. so putting JWT on a stock VG motor would not be nearly as likely to have that problem.

Yeah the OP has more internal mods than the OPP! Plus the OPP has headers that can evacuate the heat much better as well as cams...Also the OPP 's compression ratio may have risen .5 where as the OP is running a much higher compression ratio, plus oil blowby from those unseated moly rings don't help it any......

so basically what you're getting at is that you still insist on having a perpetual pissing contest with Matt.

Hey boys I found a nice VG5 in excellent shape for $200.00 from a co-worker.
These antiques are so cheap it ain't worth arguing over. Personally I have three 3rd gens. Anybody want a ECU from a manual shift VG?

Yeah, I did

I surely wouldn't pay $600 for a JWT ECU, but I'd darn sure pay $200 (and did!).

It really turns the VE into a monster. I mean it's a noticeable difference. I haven't driven it in 90+ degree heat though

well the stock ecu isn't what we're talking about here. JWT = Jim Wolf Technology.. a company that takes the ECU and re-tunes it for more power.

How long have you had yours? That JWT Ecu really does morph it into a crazy monster! Slightest throttle movement is super responsive!
