Looks like pervis took great care of it.

That was a fun couple days we spent down there getting that car back to life. I learned a lot from you guys!

I'm up in the DC area now - moved up for a job with a big defense contractor and am still there. I still have the prelude, a 2003 IS300 that Matt93GXE/93SE helped check out, and recently a 88 BMW 635CSi. Thinking of trading the BMW for an old 944 though...

Besides making the car more comfortable for an old man to drive , you should also consider one thing:

PINSTRIPE!!
hey do you still have any of your old maxima write ups saved. i would like to do the HUD and digital climate control. if so could you email them to me. i would GREATLY appreciate it. i'll PM you my email

Thanks, I was worried because people said that silver was hard to paint because of the metalic content. I just knew I would have streaks in it (I have seen several silver jobs that had tiger stripes in it). I was pleased with how the paint laid out for me though. I am pretty sure it was my best paint job to date. I do think its a bit different painting this color over a pure silver though.

I posted pics last summer of the paint job after I finished it. He didn't have the wheels on it then though.

Now that's a beautiful color for a J30. How would you compare this to the original charcoal grey(Think it's KH2)? The Silverstone paint does not contain any special stuff, is easy to get a hold of and at a reasonable price?..

If I ever need a respray of my charcoal J30 and Stillen kit, I'd be tempted to do this color..

That was over 9 years ago. *sigh* I really can't pinpoint exactly when the 3rdGen forum I knew moved on. One thing that stands out was 4dsc.com going down.

But I dunno. For a platform as old as the J30, there are still some very active and very knowledgeable people doing new things and giving these cars plenty of TLC. I'd say the cars are still well represented.
I think they started moving on around 3 years ago gradually. One by one they fell. lol I also could have still stayed but made a big mistake by buying another car, and having no choice but to sell the VE since I had no place or time for it. Compared to the new car, it would not be a wise choice to keep the VE.

What happened to 4dsc? I use to go there back in my VG days. Even the new forum Matt setup looks like a ghost town.

Yeah, I see alot of people throwin in VQ35's nowadays, even though other then Aaron92se, all I see is shadyness involved with all their posts.

One question still hasn't been answered, how many miles are on that VE these days?

I think 4dsc.com kept getting hacked or over taken by spam.

There are two other VQ35 3rd gens that are in the NY area that are confirmed. They don't post here much, so it may seem shady, but they are good guys. I met them at MAXUS 09. Since they had some 4th gen parts cars at their disposal, they did the hybrid swap with a 4th gen ECU instead of using an 02+ Maxima ECU.

it has some pearls in it (cant remember how many...3 I think) but its not hard to get. I used the lower end PPG on that paint job (omni) and it was about the same as any other color (~$30 a quart for color only but you have to buy reducer as well and obviously clear and its materials). I think I used 5 quarts of color since it was a color change plus kit. I used every last drop of it.

Greetings to all, glad to see everyone is doing well. For the past several years I’ve done more lurking instead of posting. I had to show my face on this thread.

Dave –How’s the family, how many kids do you and your wife have now. I remember you had a nice basketball team going on. Yes I remember the day you sold me the splash guards. I also remember how you came onto the forum. Wasn’t it an accident in the parking lot (a lady sideswipe you) so you joined the forum in search of a replacement. Are you still playing the guitar and singing?

Craig – Go, go, pinstripe LOL. All the scenic pics you took while in ATL were memorable. I know many have done the snow pic in the south, but I remember your black 3rd gen with the tire tracks in the snow. How’s DC treating you and which city has worst traffic, DC or ATL?

Aaron – As Dave mentioned, kudos on all the mods you have done. Anytime you have a NWP meet or event in the DC or Eastern NC area, I always try to attend, but stuff happens which prevents me from attending.

James – What’s up bro, how are you and your brother doing? First thing that comes to mind when I think of you is how people in your neighborhood always wanted to test you and your brother and you guys had to stand up and represent yourselves.

Lordrandall – How are things on the West coast? Have your wife learned how to drive a 5spd? Whenever I talk to people about the different city/state I’ve lived in, I always say if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t have left CA.

Matt – 3 homes in 5 years, excellent. I remember when you left your rental home and purchase a house with either a long driveway or big front yard. I was waiting for the 1st Annual Meet at Matt’s House party. In regards to the PM I sent you a couple weeks ago, if you can still provide me pics of the camber plate that would be great.

Michael – Yes I got the car back together, at least the major body panels. All the exterior lights, grill and minor trim pieces still need to be installed. I have not driven or started my 3rd gen in 4 yrs, and that was only to drive it to the body shop. Prior to that, I really can’t remember how long it has been since I drove it regularly. I do remember a pic of your oldest first day of K. Wasn’t she wearing a backpack with some cartoon character, was it Kim Possible? And who can forget her Roll Tide video.

To all the others new and old (Chris, PA, DanNY, shavedmax, internetautomar, Kaleb, Cliff Clavin, Jeff, MrGone, Nubian, Sarah, Andrew91SE, Uncle Pete) a big hello.

As for me, life is good and I’m still driving my low rider S-10 pickup in Charlotte. Wife and kids are doing well. I’ve had a couple other project vehicles that have come and gone, but this time I said no more project vehicles until I have the Max back on the road. So I recently pulled the Max from the backyard shed and put it into the house garage. So do expect some newbie type questions from me until I familiarize myself it the 3rd gen again. My intent is to re-do the interior. You guys remember the white embroidered door panels I have? I’ve had those panels for as long as I’ve had the Max, which has been 14yrs.

See you all around, and peace out.

Good to hear from you. I don't have any NWP meets planned right now, but it's possible we'll do another Raleigh/Durham Meet this summer. I'll be sure to let you know.

I definitely remember the door panel inserts.

I finally got rid of my old 90 Stanza. It was a good beater. But I desperately needed a pickup truck. So I got an 05 Frontier CC VQ40 4wd Nismo.

That depends on your driving style. You could either go stock replacement or upgrade to a sport clutch. Its preference. Cost? That depends on what condition its in or what you have to do to it to make it a reliable mode of transportation.

Oh and instead of making to post you could've just edited your first one.

Any OG guys still around?

I thought I was finished with 3rd gens forever but pervisanathema shot me a PM out of the blue and offered me my old 92 VE5 for a price I could not refuse. I traveled up to S.C. weekend before last and drove it home. I can not believe how well he has taken care of the car. The leather, paint and body are just as nice as the day he drove off in it. The only thing showing any wear is the shifter **** but thats just normal wear (ae ****).

I forgot how much fun it is to drive (especially compared to a small SUV and van).

Anyway here are a couple of pics I took of it a day or so after getting back. Its filthy from the drive (rained on me some) but it still looks good.

I never would have thought I would own this car again after he drove off in it almost 5 years ago.

anyway to all the OG guys and to the newbies I have not met that have furthered the community since I left it.
What up mike!...yeah I remember how clean the max was..alot of cats should thank "OG's" like us...good to have you back brah!
