Something happened to the trunk lid

Earlier today, a friend and I were at the local pick-a-part getting a couple of parts for our cars. When we got what we wanted and headed back to my Max, I opened the trunk to put our stuff in. When I wanted to close the trunk lid, it wouldn't budge. I was checking to see what could be wrong with it but I couldn't find anything. So I unhooked a torsion bar but still wouldn't move. I was finally able to eventually close it but....

So now I have to go back to the pick-a-part an get a new hinge for the lid.

But what's bugging me is what could have caused it to not budge when I wanted to close the lid? What should I check when I have the time to fix this problem?

Might sound a stupid question but did you have anything in your trunk that would have blocked it, like a big box or a sub that has moved position?

Nope. All I have in the trunk is a small box with some parts which I'm going to replace on my Max. I still don't have an idea as to how it got stuck, but oh well the damage is done and I have to fix it.

Still opens and closes but it's harder to lift up and it will fall down quickly so I have to be careful on it.
