'94-95 V6 camero vs. '92 Max???
#1
Yeah, guys, this question is going to be dumb but.....
There is this guy at work with a V6 camero(auto). Driving around he thinks hes the ****. Well, I kinda told him that his car isnt that great, so now he wants to run it against my '92 SE.(auto) All I got in there is a place racing cold air intake. Any chance of taking this guy in a race and him seeing all 4 doors on my car passing him up? Ahh...it would feel sooo good. Guys, be honest..would he run my *** in the ground??? Later, Steve

Yes sir, Im suppose to be making 190 hp. Man, I put that CAI in and it helped a lot! The rpms jump a lot quicker and overall throttle response is great! And oh man, the sound!!! My god it sounds good! Like a V8. I was really impressed with the sound! Nothing like those 4 banger civics and accords you hear. ~Steve

Well...I'm going to assume that this camaro is an RS model because the Z-28 and SS have the 5.7liter V-8 LT-1's
The RS has a 3400cc (3.4liter) OHV V-6 Engine with 160 hp and 200 ft/lb of torque. The estimated 0-60 time is 8.2 seconds...you be the judge...i think you can kick his ***

i thought the V6 camaro had an even 200 horses. as a matter of fact i'm pretty sure it does. i race my buddie's 30th anniversary V6 camaro in my 92 SE, they're both 5 speeds. it's kinda close but if i shift hard i normally win by about a carlenghth. that's to about 110mph. then he normally wimps out and says that he just didn't want to go faster and that he wasn't trying to hard. I dunno man, Good luck, but i think you can take him.

easy.
I whoop my friends v6 Camaro (auto) all the time in my stock 91' Max with the VG.
the Z-28 is a whole different beast though.
the max can pretty much beat ANY N/A v-6 stock with no mods.
unless your a crappy driver.

ok....i believe you on that....but do your research like i did....with the auto (or 5 spd) the 3.4 liter OHV V-6 has 160hp with 200 ft/lb of torque. go to http://www.kbb.com and see for yourself. Unless he has a differnet engine in there, the 30th aniversary comes in the Z-28 only with a 5 (i think maybe a 6? speed) with the 5.7L V-8 LT1 Engine. Same as what in the early 90's corvettes pumping out 305 hp had. Take my word on this...I used to work at a chevrolet dealer...I...would...Know...(...and yes, I said DOMESTIC!)

UM NO!
the website you directed me to even says it has 200 HP with 225lb ft of torque. copied directly
"The base engine for both cars is GM's excellent Series II 3800 V6. Available with either a four-speed automatic or (our preference) the standard five-speed manual, it's rated at a robust 200 horsepower and an even more robust 225 lb.-ft. of torque."

loook for yourself.

one more thing...
we are talking about the 94 and 95 not the 97 here is some info
There are four drivetrain combinations to choose from: You can get the basic 3.4-liter 160-hp V6 engine with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed electronic automatic transmission; or you can get the thundering 5.7-liter 275-hp LT1 V8 with the 6-speed manual or the optional 4-speed electronic automatic transmission

Re: Re: one more thing...
ok,
there are a few combinations. that is correct. However the base model V6 on any camaro is rated at 200 HP. even the web page where you sent me to says that. The 160 hp motor that you're talking about might be in the old Z24 cavaliers or something, or berettas. I don't really know, but it's not the camaro. I'm sure of this.

by the way the V6 is the Base model... they did not even have a name for the car. (i think correct me if i am wrong) the next model up from that is the RS then the Z28 and then SS.
