Burning Brake Pad Grease

This is like the 10th times I've changed brake pads but why is it every times I put on the anti-squeal greases, that sheet always turn into smoke after the install. Driving around after a new install makes everyone thinks I'm crazy driving around with my wheels all smoking. lol what's going on? Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I always use those quick easy to use small pouches you get for $2 at Autozone. Could it be I'm using crap grease?

are you putting the grease on the contact pad of the brakes? you should never put any lubricant (or anything, for that matter) between the brake pad and the rotor.
the grease goes on the back of the pad, or anywhere that will move as the pad moves with applied pressure.

Never had problem with grease and brake pads before, and I change tons of them every week. Like the others have said where are you putting it?

I use the same stuff on the back of the pads and also use a lube on the moving parts of the caliper. I've never seen smoke. You must be really slapping that stuff on there and it's migrating to the friction surface.

lol I only apply the grease to the back metal supporting plates, not the pad surface itself. Could it be I'm applying too much? I dunno.

If your front pads are causing for this to happen then chances are they're the only ones doing the work and over heating

lol no, it wasn't seized. I just change my pads this time, except I used a lot less and no smoke this time. I'm surprised no one caught that one. Also, the grease pack I used was a lot different this time than the last several times. In the past, I've used the silver crap. This time, I used Silk brand and it looks a lot different than all the one I've used before. It looks like multi-purpose grease. Summary, I just used less and no smoke. That was the answer, magic.

less of it and a different type of grease could both do the trick. Then again I never use that crap and don't have noise issues at all. it just makes a mess and doesn't really do anything.
