Super Rare Grille???

Check this out.. I don't think I've ever seen one on a 3rd gen. Could use a little freshening up, but I really like it.

Huh?

That grill is nothing other than the same grille Ben posted with the Nissan logo cut and moved to the top/middle...

If you are implying it's a custom job, I am not so sure. I don't recall there being a spot for the emblem there on mine, and that doesn't seem to be fabbed in, nor the old location being worked out. there is no evidince that I see shoiwing it was cut out.

if it is a custom fab, they did a helluva good job on it.

nissan, on the VG SE's
but I have never seen the logo in the center before; had an 89 se, it was offset (see example), and my 91 is the same way.
and the gxe has chromed grills.
1994

1989 (edit: note location of the logo)

Wow this gets better. I always assumed it was aftermarket, but after looking at the back part, it does not seem fabbed, and has a nice little Nissan logo along with "A B S".

yup, I am approx 90% sure mine doesn't have a "bracket" for the logo, there.

mine is down there, on the bottom, in front (bracket on the back of) the bottom right-most column (looking at the front).

James, look at the upper line of Ben's grille in post #2. Theres a slight bend there that mine does not have, and the bottom looks off too. I still call aftermarket on this one here. Or "Super Rare Grille"? I think they put this on factory freaks only.

The Nissan log plastic section isn't even parallel with the rest of the grille (see middle picture in first post)

My circled section here does NOT look factory. It looks cut/hacked/whatever but not factory

*edited* meant parallel but originally said perpendicular

Can you take a picture of the back of the lower right quadrant of the grille?

Yeah, your right James. I even see the 2 square holes in the back part where it clips into, are cut out in a weird way. But whats even more weird is that the back part that holds the Nissan logo is 99% original. It's one piece. Why would that be there if no logo belongs there? Thats what I wanna know.

That part is likely solid just to stiffen it up in that area since it has a snap clip right below it

I was even about to mention the holes for the clips on your grille looked cut-out, but I wanted to see the back of the lower right quadrant. I'm betting there's evidence there of cutting

Lol thats just some damage of it being pushed up against something. Even if it was a cut out, thats not really the part thats in question.

Ben the front middle area in the back looks exactly like mine. Where are you taking those pics? In a bee hive? lol

Ok, the pic below tells the story. Looks like they broke that part off. It seems this grille is just like yours Ben, but modded. Man, I was getting excited
Not a bad job on the customness of it. It also looks spray painted black. It's going onto my friends VE.

lol
no the table the pics were taken on has a glass top. there is some of that rubber anti slip stuff under it, that is what you see.

that really sucks.
it's also pretty cool; means I get to use the dremel.... if I can remember where I put it....

I've never owned a 3rd. But in my opinion, I think since that's possibly a replacement grille and aftermarket/replacement are always exact. That Nissan logo on the back were probably engraved there by Nissan to be approved.

I was actually thinking it was aftermarket this whole time while it was collecting dust in my room.

Na it did come off a Max. We concluded that its just an emblem relocation of the pre-92 cars.

I disagree.
