BEST Struts...and yes i searched.....

I am looking to see what the best struts are for a 3rd Gen Maxima. My struts are shot and i want to replace them with something good. I do not want a bone crunching ride, but i need my Max to handle VERY good. I'm tried of the floaty ride of a GXE, so i want to know which strut will give me great handling (car will see track time) and also a "decent" ride.

koni's are nice because they are adjustable but if you won't be messing with them then tokico's are just as nice.

So don't pick Kyb Agx?

I noticed that no one recommended the kyb agx struts. Why not? Are they that bad, or are the koni's just that much better?

KYB AGX's aren't available for us...only the GR2's...they are an OEM replacement and not a "performance" strut

Struts

Konis are second to none, and barring failure which some have reported (warranty) they will not wear out like Tokicos will. My Toks, with a stretch, lasted 40K miles. Konis should last the life of your car.

struts

the konis fronts are not direct bolt ups like the other 2. the old fronts have to be customed to fit the inserts in. also chances are the koni's may be harder to get ahold of. it seems like every time i check with shox.com, they are backordered from holland.

Whatever you do DO NOT GET TOKICO, I had them for less the 15k, they are already warned out and make funny noises. Konis are awesome, theyre lil expensive, but trust me its worth the money.

i just was wondering if it was a good idea to have diferent springs in front than in back. i have already ordered the koni struts and i have a friend who has a back set of eibach's but they only lower it about 1.25 on the stock struts which still looks good but i would like the front lower. is that a bad idea?

Yes, that's the best way to go for struts and springs.

So what are the proces for some Koni struts and Eibach springs, so the bearing plates come with them?

I'm no expert, but I don't see why not. The stiffer rear springs will reduce understeer just like adding a RSB (almost). So I don't really see a mechanical reason why not to do this. I don't know if a 1.25-1.5 inch drop in the rear should warrant you aiming your headlights a bit lower...

The only thing is it might look a bit off kilter with the front slightly higher than the rear. Some of our cars do this already I think (called "saggy @ss syndrome" or something), due to sagging springs. But if you don't mind the look, then I think it'd be alright.

I have another question about struts, this may be stupid though but bear with me, do i ned to replace all 4 at one time? Could i replace the front and then do the rear later? Or would it be better to just replace all 4 at the same time?
