Help needed with 91 SE
How's it goin everyone?
I have a problem with my 91 SE. The other day it started running horrible after restarting it at operating temp. It runs fine the first time you start it. After you shut it off and restart it a little while later, it can barely idle. It chugs and tries to stay running. The tach jumps up and down while its doing this(at any rpm). When you try to rev it, it struggles to gain rpm. After letting it sit overnight, it'll run fine in the morning. Any ideas where to start looking? Could the distributor cause this? Here's a video of it trying to idle.

Thanks

I used to have a similar problem. the car would run and start great when cold or just starting in the morning, then once it warms up, it barely wants to crank and run, then it runs with a putt putt. Turned out to be a bad fuel injector. I had mechanics tell me all kinds of things like a burned valve, I needed a new engine, all types of things. Good thing I didnt listen to them!

As far as fuel injectors...I've had a faulty one in the past and I'm almost positive this isn't the problem here. I was able to drive it this morning. I floored it and could feel surging/cutting out as it revved thru first gear. As it did this the tach needle would fall a couple rpms. When I came to a stop the same thing would be happening. Every couple seconds it cuts out(for a split second) and tach needle drops.

So it turns out the distributor was bad. The shaft was very sloppy and I'm assuming the module/sensor inside was bad. It would run great while cold, and hesitate, skip, cut out, idle rough, etc when warmed up I haven't felt the engine this smooth in a long time. Oh btw the car has 297,400 miles. Runs like it has less than half that now. Thanks to those who gave their input.
