Thanks in advance.

There's a guy who comes around here very infrequently who indeed has a rear window spoiler on his 3rd gen. Can't remember his sn, though. IIRC he said he basically just bought it off some guy on the street, offered him money for it on the spot and the guy sold it to him, so he's not even sure where it came from exactly.

I haven't ever seen another 3rd gen with one and haven't ever been able to find mention of such an item for sale online, either

Do you mean the visor type one that fits at the top of the rear window or the full cover louvre style?

Visor type

Louvre type

Not sure where you would get a visor type one from, but the full louvre on my car (the silver one) is made/supplied by Aunger, which is a brand available through most aftermarket motoring accessory stores in New Zealand. My trunk spoiler is made by them also. Both the louvre and trunk spoiler were on the car when I purchased it.

The website for Aunger is www.aunger.com.au they are an Australian company and their website is currently being upgraded. Not sure if they would have them as a stock item anymore. I believe they are a rare item in the US.

The visor type would look best if it were just not as deep (if it didn't stick out as much from the roof). Maybe it can be trimmed?

More importantly: where can I buy one of these visor spoilers?

Why would an importer have any idea? Are you under the impression they were an option in Japan? Because they weren't.

I would look into fitting one from a 92' Mustang, I think the width is really close, enough that you can make dis shiit happen.

The full louvre is actually a pain, as the back window is always dirty. I hate when I clean the car, then you get in and look in the rear view mirror to a dirty back window Maybe im a bit fussy.

We never got the joy of automatic seatbelts in New Zealand. I think they are wierd. They look like they are going to strangle the occupants....lol

There are plastic mounts that you stick on the back window with double sided tape, that are about 2x1". There are 4 along the top and bottom, and 3 on each side. They have a rectangular hole in them. To mount the louvre to them, they come with 1" head diameter clips with toggles on the end that fit into the window mounts and fasten with a quarter turn with a phillips head screw driver. Over time the clips tend to become sticky with dust/dirt etc, and arent easy to undo. They also seem to have a phillips head on them that no screw driver ever fits properly and you end up wrecking the head...lol

The visor type is mounted with the louvre clip system, or with double sided tape on all surfaces that make contact with the rear window, depending on the brand, size etc.

Did U have any luck finding a rear window spoiler that matches up w/your Max, I'm interested 2 see?. I was thinking of doing the same thing eventually when I'm finished w/everything else I'm in the middle of w/my Max. The JY by my crib has alot of auto's w/stuff like that on them and this JY is a pick/do it yourself yard, so it's alot cheaper than other's. I'll take a look when I get a chance.

No luck yet Shi.

Still looking. Would love to get one.

That would be cool. Let me know if you get your hands on more than 1.

has anyone tried a Mustang louvre yet?

i was at the junkyard today and theres 5 3rd gens, i found a 80's Celica GT with a louvre and took it off and test fitted it on one of the 3rd gens and it was close to fitting, another couple of inches of width near the top and it would have worked.

searched the domestic section for a Mustang but couldnt find any with a louvre

It's been established earlier in the thread that nobody knows where to get the visor type. Even at that, I'd doubt whatever company DID make them still makes them

I'd imagine it was a NZ/Australian company, though

i'm tempted to see if a 80's Supra visor would work, there was one at the junkyard as well but the hatch is locked shut and i couldnt remove it for a test fit, may get it from the inside tomorrow

not to get OT but how exactly do you use fiberglass? ive been told by people you can get a JY front bumper and stuff that generally looks like it will fit and fill in any gaps with fiberglass. i know fiberglass its a bunch of fibers but how do you get it to mold/stick to anything or build anything with it?

I guess I'm gonna have 2 do this 4 everyone that's interested, I'll go take the dimensions on a 92' notch back Mustang. Myself and my family have owned 5 of these fox body Mustangs and that's why I suggested them. I was suggesting the sedan if I wasn't clear cause the hatch wouldn't work cause the windshield is kinda flat. The sedan/notchback has a close fitment, enough that I think U can make it work.

i read about making a mold with wood and chicken wire, i'm horrible at craft stuff like that so i would fail miserably. i think in school when i had to take art my stuff was so sh1tty they thought i was doing it on purpose

I'm the EXACT opposite. Growing up, my family always thought I'd be (and my twin brother too) an artist of some sort. We almost went to an art institute rather than normal college.

Problem is, I only ever wanted to draw cars and Ninja Turtles when I was little. I never really cared for drawing a peach in a bowl on a table and the other obscure crap they'd make you do in art classes.

Any sort of fabrication/designing/building type of stuff has (thankfully) always come pretty naturally to me

Anyway, fiberglass is easy. The fibers/strands stick together with fiberglass resin.

That's a pretty good idea. Honda guys use this stuff quite a bit to make little lips/sideskirts and stuff

You could just attach some strips to the underside in the middle to beef it up so it wouldn't slouch. Just glue/weld some abs plastic strips about an inch wide across the middle section

What he said. LMAO NEVER question this man's fab skillz. He's like MacGyver - give him a paper clip, some fiberglass & a welding rig then stand back and watch.
