Time to replace the alternator - which should i get?
Time to replace the alternator - which should i get?
What are some of the better/best aftermarket alts. out there? Also, i'm considering upgrading the current since i'm also running a 100W rms sub and I also added oem fogs, but i also know that an alt that produces too many amps can overcharge the batt. Stock current is 90amps, so maybe 100?

I've heard from a few members here your best bet is to have your own alternator rebuilt. Otherwise it is pretty much a guarantee you'll be replacing your alternator again in the near future. So if you do get a reman, a lifetime or two year warranty are probably best.
For how easy the VG alternators are to change, just get one with a lifetime warranty or have your stocker rebuilt locally. If it were harder to change, like on a 5 gen, I'd say to buy OEM or Bosch.

Dude, what state r u in?
Those prices are great!
My local autozone (Philadelphia) charges $150 and $215 respectively for the VG and SE alternators. I paid $225 a while back from Napa for my SE alternator that I just had to replace. Most recently I used Starters-Alternators on ebay, and still had to pay $85 plus shipping.
