Needs duct tape. ^_^

Seriously though, I hope you at least paint it or something cause it looks like it was pulled from some scrap.

I agree that Junkyard Wars was a good show, but come on now.

It was a show where two teams would go head to head and build crude vehicles from parts found in a junkyard. They had LCD mounts on the set that looked nearly identical.

I know of the show. Just not getting your point. The whole purpose is for me to be able to monitor nistune and make adjustments while driving.

He's saying it looks crude and came from a junkyard

I on the other think its pretty cool. Few suggestions and questions

1)Laptop screen swivel brackets are usually weak, you might want to make something to hold the screen up and in place.
2)Can it swivel or it stable? You could use a STRONG camera tripod top so you could swivel, or angle in any direction for better viewing in certain light conditions. You could also use the same concept from a tripod so that you could raise/lower the laptop
3)Will there be anything to hold the laptop in place besides duct tape?
4) 4 bolts>2 bolts for mounting.

"tuning" while driving = FAIL.
Take it to a dyno and do it right.

I like the idea of the tripod swivel. I don't get why you guys keep mentioning duck tape. The laptop slides into place and stays quite well. If this was a permanent install I would have put more time into it. And no I can't bring it to a dyno to get it tuned.
1. I tune all my own vehicles.
2. No one dyno Nebraska even knows how to tune with Nistune.
3. With the datalogging and all the equipment All I have to do is do a pull. Pull over the car go through the log and make the necessary changes. So im not actually trying to drive and work the laptop at the same time.

I like seeing you hook up your 3rdgen with a laptop , I can see the finished product in my head. I believe this 3rdgen is boosted right, now you can observe your diagnostics/turbo system while driving and your laptop won't be sliding around and shiit. I can tel that your really feelin' your 3rdgen, I like.

1. I don't case WHO tunes the car. I care WHERE you tune the car.
2. there are tons of dynos/shops in Nebraska. buy an hour of dyno time and just tell them to drive the damn dyno while you drive the car and do the tuning. It would be the same if you paid your own mechanic to tune your car on their dyno.
3. anything past a 2nd gear pull gets you into super-legal speeds. the first ticket you get "tuning" at the top of 3rd gear nets you a $300+ fine and/or a night in jail and impounded car. That makes 1 hr of dyno time CHEAP in comparison.

It's fine and dandy to get a base tune on the car on the street so that you can drive it. after that get the car into a dyno shop and do it right. Last time I priced dyno time here, it was $150/hr.... Less than a single ticket for 10mph over in TX.

any more talk of tuning on the street (which is illegal), and you'll no longer have the privilege of posting on the forums. Capiche?

Dynos around here won't let you drive the car while on the dyno and won't let you tune your car on their dyno. They have to do it all. I live in pretty small town and have a Nice paved back road that I tune on stays out of traffic etc.

Maybe if people didn't act like ricers and **** off the dyno shop techs, they'd let people tune their own cars on the dyno... I've never had a problem with the dyno shop letting me do my own thing to my car and most let me drive the car on the dyno. I've been with friends that hire a pro from out of town to tune their cars and they just rent an hour of dyno time and the shop either stands by and runs the dyno, or the tech drives the car while the tuner does the computer and engine work. The shop techs assist while the tuner and owner do the work.
