Here We Go Again!@%&*(_+<>?!

Not but three months later and my fuel pump fuse is f~ckin' poppin' again!! I ended up replacing the fuel pump with a new one and have not had problems since then. Now is it the aftermarket pump I bought off of ebay or is something shorting my pumps out. Maybe my fuel sending unit is popping the fuses, where the harness wires connect to the FSU is all rusted up, especially the ground connector. Somebody on here said the had a good fuel pump with the Fuel sending unit, if you still have it how much shipped to NY?. I checked everything again; the relay is good(I have good extra1), wiring/connectors/harnesses/fuse block all check out.

That was me and I think I threw it away. It came out of my rust free shell that I flipped into a VE. It had no corrosion...sorry.

Yes, I searched the forum threads today and found your post and then emailed you earlier asking if you still had and what condition. Could you look to see if maybe you still have and maybe give me a better deal than the JY wants for the sending unit.

I was checking things out earlier and I still have no clue as to what is causing the Fuel Pump fuse to blow. I know it's not the relay in the trunk cause I have a spare good 1, can't check for voltage with key on cause of blown fuse, I tested the fuse terminals w/test light and there was no voltage. The ECU seems to be working fine and is throwing the proper code for fuel circuit(2green,2red flashes). The wiring in this Max is very clean, the shell is very clean like no corrosion, the only thing that was a little rusty was the top of the sending unit where the harness connectors hook up. I'm thinking maybe the reman fuel pump died already cause now that I think about it, the sending unit was in good working condition when I swapped out my original oem pump. It started right up no problems for three months and then same thing happened, started up then stalled like 2 minutes later for no reason. So I immediately checked the fuse block and just like I hoped it wouldn't be, fuel pump fuse was blown...Fuucker!!!!

Try the 3rd gen classified, get the pump and sending unit then swap that in and see what happens. If I ever run into such a problem I have three VE pumps with sending units ready to swap in. Gotta have lots of spare parts when you driving antiques.

Do you have the sending unit with it, being lead to this with my trouble shooting. I might be frying the fuel pumps or this reman that I bought was a piece o' shyt!! What's fuuucked up is that I replaced the FP last time and everything was good money. I don't want to just replace the fuel pump just in case the sending unit is burning out the FP's. The problem is that I'm limited to testing cause the fuse pops with key on. Anyway if you have them both in good working/looking condition, plus the drive I really couldn't offer much since the Junk Yard literally round the way is asking 75 bones for both. If your willing to offer it for like 20 bucks then to me it would be worth the trip, otherwise I'd rather not drive that far. Good looking on the offer and my offer is not by any means meant as an insult, it's what would make it worth wild, thanks.

Yeah mos def on the spare parts tip, I actually have a 255LPH fuel pump for my Max for the future but I don't know if I wanna risk installing in my tank. I'll probably just get a used fuel pump/sending unit set up and see what happens as you stated. I just really hate buying parts, installing them and then see what happens, I wanna know what's causing the trouble first then repair. Some times your limited in your driveway and have to say fuuck it and see what happens though. Just curious, do you have frequent issues with your VE's fuel pumps/sending units? Our cars aren't antiques, there classic's my dude!!

No fuel delivery or electrical problems.

Electrical, I believe it's the sending unit, the cover is kinda rusty and the plastic that covers the connectors has a crack in it. I already checked under dash, fuse block, under carpet, sending unit harness, relay, ECU and could find nothing wrong with anything. Plus when this happened about three months ago all I really did was change fuel pump, I changed nothing else.

If any one is interested, I still haven't located the short that is popping the fuel pump fuse. I thought at first it was bad fuel pump or relay but both of those are good, the sending unit harness checks out, wiring to sending unit/fuel pump look good. I believe it's something behind the dash, the question is what though and what to look at. This really blows, I hate tearing a dash apart!!

Finally have located source of short on my Baby, it's one of the connectors on the cap of the sending unit. One of the connectors insulation has a small crack in it causing an intermittently shorting situation. I should have replaced this the first time but the fuuckin' sending units are impossible to find and even harder to find in good condition. I'm going to try and insulate properly this time around instead of rushing before it get's dark outside. If done right it should last long enough for me to find a good condition sending unit to go with my new fuel pump.

Use a tone generator and amplifier to find the short in the wiring harness!

I got a question about the fuel sending unit???

I was pricing sending units at the junk yards this week and ran into a question I wasn't sure about. One of the junk yards asked if I had digital or analog dash cluster. I have a digital dash but I thought it wouldn't make a difference for fuel gauge to receive the signal. Now of course I tried to look up the info but i'm obviously still unsure. Courtesy Parts Nissan shows 3 different types;

So i'm guessing when I'm at the junkyard it has to be the same part numbers as the first sending unit shown here? Or could I use the other SOHC? I'm thinking it has to be digital, which is gonna be difficult to find at a JY. Appreciate any knowledge on this topic.
