short shifter?
Its a 91 5spd (obv) just wondering if there's a short throw out there still available. If not doesn anyone know who might have 1 laying around? I'm pretty much just tryin to get rid of the truck shifter for a shorter 1 and if I can shorten the throw at the same time then awesome

Do some searching on awsm66/Michael. He created a how-to thread a few years back on how you can make a short shifter out of the OEM one by moving the "ball" up after heating it up in your oven.
He also has a thread or two about how to make a 4th gen STS fit. IIRC, he eventually surmised modifying the OEM shifter was easier/better/much cheaper (obviously)

I have a modified stock shifter on my car and it works great...The aftermarket units were essentially an OEM shifter with the ball relocated, anyway.
You should really check out AWSM66 / Michael's thread about this, but let me give you the gist of it:
1) Remove shifter from car
2) Remove shift rod from housing
3) Heat up in oven (search for thread for temp / time)
4) Using hot pads, remove it from oven and clamp in vice
5) Use vice grips or similar tool move ball down to anywhere above where the shaft bends. The farther you go, the shorter the throw. I moved mine the maximum allowable distance and have always been very happy with it.
6) Thoroughly re-grease ball and reinstall.
7) Drive happy!

I just did mine last week. 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Took the shifter out of the oven and used a pickle fork to pry the ball up. At first its not gonna move bcuz the there are notches on the rod like the headrest. Keep prying and eventually it will slide up. I moved mine all the way up to the bend. Pretty much mine is as like Michael's. Had to slightly modify my heat shield above cat conv.

It shortens the throws just like a "true" short throw shifter.
Moving the pivot ball up shortens the throws.
Cutting the shifter down without moving the pivot ball is literally just a "short shifter" but not a short throw shifter.
Now, you could do BOTH and have a shortened length and shortened throw, if you wanted.
