wish i could but today after only day 2 of the car running once more after a year of sitting it developed a rod knock in cylinder number 5 so now ima have to save to get a reman motor as its cheaper then having to take it to be rebuilt plus it comes with new oil pump timing chain and components and vtc's. ****ing blows but thats part of having these old maxima's plus this engine was a jdm swap done by the owner before i bought the car so i had no clue in the condition of the motor and before it started knocking it had no signs of anything bad about to happen. trying to upload a pic of the car on the rims cleaned up and in front of my house.

You asked if I've done any of the things you've done to a Maxima. Have I entirely refurbished mine? No. I've only replaced or repaired parts that have gone bad. Have had to change out my rack and pinion. My CV joints. Some suspension components. The only modifications I've done is a rear disc swap, as I mentioned earlier, and some 16" wheels off a newer gen Altima. I guess I was trying to "prove" that this "kid" can and have replaced parts on a car before. Only I didn't just replace them on the 240, I also upgraded. Carry on with refurbishing your car though.

elusive, how do you know it's not a VTC knock? they do sound pretty similar if Im not mistakin. throw a toyota D3 oil filter on and see if it goes away.

Also that last pic you just posted looks effin great man. Especially with those wheels. Get a grille though.

What's the tire sizes on the GT-Rs? Fit looks good.

Also don't make me come in here and clean up the BS again. I'll just give some vacations the next time.

Already been on vacation jeff and this is a thread I started and dhunter has to be stupid and make stupid comments. Tires on the gt-r's are in the front 215/45/R18 and back is 245/40/R18 I didnt put the tires thats how they came. Actually thinking of going either 215/45/R18 or 225/45/R18 all around. I,got a grille bought it off james93se. The knock is coming from tranny side by cylinder number 5 ive always been having issues with that cylinder. I'll take more pictures of the maxima on gt-r's today with more sunlight out hopefully since its cloudy right now but it hopefully will clear up later.

Also the knock isnt happening at idle only when in acceleration so me and doubleclutch are thinking I spun a rod bearing so ima talk with my techncian friends and see if the general cencus agrees that its a spun rod bearing and not a rod itself.
Only issues with the tires are the ones in the rear barely catching the fender when I hit dips and the suspension jounces pretty good it rubs the inner lip of the fender. Once I figure out if its rod bearing or not and I fix the problem im first gonna have the fenders rolled and see if I cant stick with the 245/40/R18 in the back and get the same for the front plus I need to do a four wheel alignment and have a little bit lf negative camber done for better clearance.

guess its gonna be rebuild time early after all. now to start buying most the stuff slowly to get started on rebuilding the block. gonna swap out the crank from my ve and put the one from my spare parts car after we dismantle the other block and take the crank to be checked and ground and rebalanced.

im gonna bore the block out a bit and single turbo this one since its being rebuilt now after having developed a spun rod bearing. ill have her back up and running and pushing a bit of boost. now how much lbs im not sure yet. gotta start searching for the upgrade parts to allow for boost without running lean so new fuel pump. now as for the fuel injectors i guess im out of luck as i just installed 6 new injectors of oem spec.

Vtc's are only for low end torque it only works from around idle speeds too 3-4k rpms conyo. Its not like hondas vtec. Ask any of the maxima owners with ve30de's and most have just grounded there vtc's. Plus troll once I rebuild my engine for the turbo build I will be replacing both vtc's with brand new ingress from nissan granted vtc with turbo will hardly be useful.

Lol dead2fall naw bro I've always been partcal to the VE30DE I'm gonna build my spare block after I repair the spun bearing and have the spare motor first boosting on a single turbo then see if I can benefit from twin or if I just want to twin turbo it to make it different.
