Rear Speaker Problem

The problem with them is......they don't work. When I first got the car almost two years ago, the rear speakers would sometimes cut out. After about two months they quit working for good. I always thought they were just bad speakers, but when I replaced them last night, they still wont work at all. The wiring connections at the speakers and at the radio are fine. I'd really like any help before I try to replace the wires all together

Radio is shot or wires are shot. Hook up wires to a good known radio or use a multimeter with really long leads to check continuity. Although if the old ones were cutting out my money is on the radios internals.

Well, go work on it and let us know. Pretty easy to track this issue down.

Bose/non-Bose? Bypassed the amp(s)? If not, maybe the stock amp(s) are shot.

Your head unit definitely has a problem, could very possibly be the cause of the speakers cutting out. It would be nice if you were to tell us what kind of radio you have.

Seems pretty obvious. HU problem or connection problem somewhere along the line. The factory wiring is really thin and crappy.

If you have the time, you can take out your interior and rewire the entire car and have it done right with quality wire and good connections and grounds.

Wire isn't that expensive, but it will take you some time. You can also pull up the carpet and add dynamat or some other insulation or take out OEM insulation if you want to lighten your car. It is also a good way to learn how to disassemble and reassemble your interior if you want to fix, change or replace anything else.

First thing you should do is bypass the amps if you have them. Then take a test speaker (known to be good) and test the wiring directly. I highly doubt the wires just went bad. I have worked at a stereo shop for the last 15yrs and yes it could be all of the above mentioned but check the easiest first. Head unit, then bypass amps, wiring from front to rear, and whatever speakers are installed. If you have the bose system it is best to dump all of that and start over. (No Highs and all Lows, must be BLOWS) IMO Check the easy stuff and the problem will norally reveal itself.
