Brake line question

So the brake line from the master cylinder going down through the driverside strut to the left front brake is leaking and needs replaced. When I press down on the pedal I can see a mist of brake fluid spray out. Does anyone know the exact length of this line? If I buy a brake line thats the correct size/length to install at my local parts store, will I still need to flare the line for any reason?

maybe.
the exact part is only about $25 at the local dealer. may be easier to replace it than to get a straight piece and try to make it fit.

A Guy down the street luckily was doing his brake lines today and made me one. I ended up having to bend it to the correct shape (which was a PITA) but i works. Got it for free tho so i cant complain

What do you suggest to do this with? I left brand new lines bare from 1 yr in Canada it already developed some crusty corrosion. Not rust but calcium like looking stuff. I tried to smear grease on the lines but it didn't hold up. Local mechanics suggest to just leave the lines bare. They claim it will take many years for the bare lines to actually rust out.

Curious your thoughts on this.

The OEM lines look like they are treated some how.
