Bypass stock clarion amplifier?
CREDIT - ***Matt93SE*** Thanks!!!
Original thread on another forum found.... Here - http://blehmco.com/faq/rear_amp_bypass.txt
I was browsing some old threads and decided to start a new one rather than bring up a 3 yr old thread... How can I bypass the stock Clarion amplifier in my 94'? Are the wires that are run to that plug the speaker wires, and I would just cut them and splice directly to the speakers??? I dont wan't to just start hacking wires apart until I know I'm doing it right.
The reason I need to bypass the amp is because I just installed all new speakers and a new Kenwood radio, and my rear deck speakers are getting 90% of the sound.. The fronts are very faint. Fading via the head-unit does not help the situation. I know my front speakers have a lot of potential because I briefly disconnected the wire from the head-unit that powers the stock amp, so only the fronts were getting power and they sounded great!
***Edit*** After pulling out the plug and inspecting the wiring.... It looks as though all 4 speakers may be run off this thing??? I don't know why, but I was under the impression that the amplifier only powered the rear speakers... I guess I was thinking this because the rears were loud and the fronts quiet?!?!

Hours of searching online on multiple forums.... finally came across this.... Did it and it worked perfect!!!! Speakers sound crisp and clear and the volume is on the same level for all 4 speakers!
once you remove the amp, you'll have a connector with a dozen or so wires. the ones you need to connect are:
Large/ Small
----------------------
Green/ Black-pink
Yellow/ black-yellow
Orange/ Orange
Blue/ Light Green
Simply connect the Large Green wire to the small black-pink wire, yellow to the black-yellow, and so on.
For particular left/right speaker identification, James Lofton (Jaybird180) supplied this info for me recently.

Thanks, James!
These are the same wires you unplug from the amp. just cut them about
2-3" away from the end of the connector, so you can reconnect the amp
whenever you sell the car.
There will still be a few wires left on the
connector (power, ground, etc) just leave those connected to the thing,
that way you don't have to worry about loose power wires hanging around
back there. If you want to pull the amp out permanently, just be sure
to cover all the connections with tape or shrink wrap and then zip tie
it to the rear deck or something so it doesn't hang into the trunk.
It will all seem a lot clearer when you get back there
inside the trunk. btw, the easiest way to do this is to just grab a
handfull of butt connectors and get on your back inside the trunk. just
leave a leg hanging out so someone doesn't come along and shut you in!

It worked flawlessly and is really easy to do! I knew something was up because I put all brand new speakers and a head unit in the car... it definitely didn't sound good until I bypassed the amp. Now it has great sound out of all 4 speakers
Just gotta install my amp/sub and I'll be all set!

So you are saying to remove the amp and all screws? then there is another wire connection???? If so then you just connect all the wires from the plug to the ones where the stock amp used to be, but not all the wires just the ones you are mentioning? My rear speakers stopped working a while ago after hooking up my stereo system. I think they are dead though, just haven't gotten around to replacing them.
I left the amp in the car... Just simply unplugged the connector and cut the appropriate wires... and connected them to the wires in that chart.....
Attach the large green wire to the skinny black-pink wire and continue the process for all of the wires... In the end you will have 4 connections. I will post a pic of the work I did to better explain what I did

Don't mind me using the wrong butt connectors ( Should have used those rounded wire caps) ..... But here is the disconnected plug that has the spliced wires

Sorry man! Do you have the link for whatever site I found that on? I'd be glad to credit you for the initial write-up!
Honestly I copy and pasted it into Microsoft Word and printed it out so I could look at it while wiring it up in my trunk.
I never thought to save the link from where I found the write-up and I dont remember what web-site I found it on but I know it wasn't maxima.org.

(It's all in the stickies if you'll look deep enough, BTW.. The problem is there's too damn many stickies and too much crap to sift through to make it easy to find.)
