91 5 spd trans to transfer in a 94?
Hey guys, longtime 4th gen owner here, and have some leftover engine/trans from a 91 SE 5spd project car from long ago.
I have an opportunity to get a 94 5 spd that has a shot tranny. Will the trans that I have from the 91 bolt right on the 94? I'm unsure since Nissan changed the VG in 93 and 94.
Please advise on this and your feedback is appreciated.

94 didn't come with a vg and a 5-speed.
the 1989-1991 5-speed is different than the 92-94 5-speed.
the older trans will "fit" but it won't be the proper one, will require swapping axles and knuckles.
It will also be a severe downgrade.
I would recommend getting the "bad" transmission rebuilt if possible.

what ben said. The 92-94 SE was a VE30DE, the same years' GXE and all 89-91's are VG.
The VG5 trans requires axles and hubs from a VG car (technically there are VG5 specific axles but i found no issues using VG-auto axles on my car). The gearing on the VG5 trans is longer than the VE5 trans so acceleration and lowend response will be marginally worse than you'd have with a proper VE5 tranny.
