Idler Pully Poof!

Well after months of annoying grinding, at first i thought it was the power steering pump going again. A few days I took a look under the hood and my A/C belt was off, then i saw that the pully was slanted n wobbly. Today i taken it out and this is what i find. All the bearings fell out and it seems to me a chunk of the melt plate that is holding the pully had melt too! So the question is should i reuse this piece or order another one? img below

I know Autozone sells the bearing but they're about $50

It won't, however, come with that plate in your second picture. You definitely want a new one of those because you can see it's actually deformed where sits against the pulley and that will just damage the pulley and at the very least make a whole bunch of noise.

I have a spare set I could mail you if you need.

I've got some sort of sound coming from the passenger side of my engine... like a hissing sort of sound... What else could it be besides a pulley?

well if its coming from the belts, you can start buy removing all the belts n leaving one belt of the 3 n see which part is making the noise

I think I'm just being paranoid at this point. I'm so used to my car running like a sewing machine that you can barely hear. It was really cold the other night, and it hasn't done it today. Probably just going to wait and see.

The "hissing" sound could perhaps be the A/C compressor's pulley in free mode (compressor not engaged). Mine made a strange sound, so I simply did away with the belt, as on the VE it only drives the A/C compressor.

You should be junkyard bound! You can get bearings from Gainger or any local bearing supply for around $7 and press it in with a socket and benchvise.....
