OK, it doesn't hurt to be reminded from time to time that some of my beliefs are crazy. I don't usually bother to explain why I love that car so much. It's not really important, anyway. The important thing is this: Every time I park that car, as I'm walking away, I turn around to look at it again.

Every. Damn. Time.
mother ****er is in my head!!!!
owned the car for what, four years, now, and I still do that?
will read again.

The 3rd gen did make bases for the 4th gen. It wasn't until the 5th gen came along that they had changed enough to not follow the same line.. Not sure where the 6th gen came from.. and the 7th gen seems to have returned to it's inner 3rd gen roots.

I also turn around to look at my Max every time I park it. Good story.

One of my favorite Gen. I currently own a 4th gen and I am looking forward of getting a 3rd gen. 5th gen is 3rd on my list.

Great story. Really like the styling on the 3rd gens and yeah, always do the turn around after parking as well!

Okay, first of all - wth is this doing on a Cambodian website?

Anyway, I largely agree other than his "dream" car being a VG auto

The 3rd gen still looks fantastic today. IMO the only things that makes it look dated are the stock wheels (GXE wheels more than the '92-94 SEs), the front corner lights and the tails and grilles on '89-91 models.

nice article
Perfection is a quiet thing. It doesn't shout out, "Hey, look, I'm perfect!" It's subtle. It takes a while for mere mortals to recognize perfection.

Also the windows are pretty boxy and the roof is pretty tall compared to todays cars. Thats kind of a dead give away in the dated department IMO

Wow!! I'm really feelin' the pretty sister myself. The 3rdgen made the Maxima what it is today and the 3rdgen is the reason the Maxima is still in production.

Make it happen bro, the suspension mods are hard to come by and a coil over system has to be customized obviously. I've totally redone my suspension/steering system, added a FSTB, B&G lowering springs, Eibach camber bolts, ES bushings, ST Suspension Anti sway bars, my Sonar struts and 17x8 inch rims(no rubber yet). I'm planning on buying the RSTB from Blemco when I get this money. I wish I would have bought that '93 VE model w/68,000 miles on her. The engine bay was so clean you could literally eat off it. They had it so long they finally sold it to some local girl and I see it all the time. Anyway, hope to see yah back in a 3G.

Thanks man, but I dont think Im ready to come back just yet. I need to enter the rear wheel drive realm and learn the art of drifting before anything else. I've had awd for over 4 years now, and it's about time I move to the final chapter. I was trying to get an 86 trueno aka corrola from initial D, but there arent any around here, and the ones that pop up are garbage and the guys want big money for them. Im thinking 240sx now but I dont like how they look. I also wanted a v8 stang, but you cant really drift those things too well right?

btw, theres custom coil over systems now? lol

A kid at my school has the S14 w/SR20DET and it has an S15 front end and rear end, he's in the middle of working on it but it's more than drivable(exterior looks great). The interior was stripped down and he has a 6 point roll cage I believe(don't quote me on that). I've thought it through many times in my head, selling my 3GMax that is and then trying to find one like he has but there not easy to come by. Unless he had an S15 imported and then made it a left hand drive I'm sure it's an S14 chassis with S15 parts. I'll have to take pics when school restarts next week. It would be nice to have a RWD Nissan, maybe a fairlady.

Yeah nice article, the 3rd Gen definitely was the Car I fell in love with and thought I can't afford as a young Aircraft tech back in 1989.....One of my coworker bought a 92 SE and it was sweet! The car so beautiful and balanced in a artful sense it still catches my eye and touches my heart to this day! The 5th gen I felt was a throw back on the 3rd gen in my opinion so in 2000, I purchased a 2000 Maxima cause it was so beautiful to me like the 3rd gen was back in the day....the rest is history!

One of the few 20+ year old cars that holds it's own even by today's design standards. After the 4th gen I started losing interest in the Maximas. If the 8th gen returns to a more timeless look, I might be interested in buying a new Maxima, until then, I keep my eye open for a low mileage 3g or 4g.

Ahh the love of the 3rd gen. We've owned ours for over 9 years now. We almost sold it 5 years ago. As I went on a test drive with the guy the wife watched us drive off, not even 2 minutes later I got a phone call while on the drive with the wife telling me "oh hell no we're not selling her!"

imagine my discomfort as I'm still in the car with the now unknowing non-potential buyer.

Our Max has had the motor tore down for 4 years now. I thought about stripping and selling the parts then scrapping the rest. The thought of spending the time putting it all back together wasn't quite thrilling to me. (i'm a mechanic by trade) But the wife won't budge and I don't have the heart to do it. We even hauled her all the way from South Dakota to Utah. So back together she'll go.

And the love and thrill of the 3rd gen is still there. I still talk to her and say hello every morning as I get in my XR to head off to my work. And when I drove her around, I would always stare into the window reflections as I drove by.
