VG 6AL ignition?

has anybody heard of or installed an MSD 6AL box or 6AL w/ 2-step on a VG30? did ia quick search but with 0 results =( having a kid so no more turbo plans but since the car is gettin stanced in the next couple months (thanks to trading my subs for 20's, gettin some stretched tires, camberin the front slightly, and the already installed lowering springs) figured id at least make it sound good w/ a catless exhaust and fat-canned muffler. so why not add flame shooting? lol but back to my question. if anyone has experience or knows if the MSD box can actually be hooked up to our coils it would be MUCH appreciated for any help.

no turbo+2step=fail?
6al on a veggie can be done, has been done. More info would be on the z31 boards, though.

The 6AL would be redundant as the ECU already has a rev limiter, you'd only need a 6A. It can be done, they are installed very simply. Good luck with everything else.

i had a 6al and a blaster 2 coil when my 3rd gen was n/a you have to watch out because it will burn the distributor cap contacts up a it will start missing. they lasted few weeks and had to change the cap agian done this several times before i took the box off. the rotor button can take it because the offer a brass one but the caps have aluminum terminals and it melts them and they dont offer a brass terminal cap i looked every where for one. the spark is hotter then factory. hope this helps.

I'm running a Mallory 6A with a Mallory coil and I would suggest throwing that Nissan epoxy coil in the wastebucket cause they have always sucked since the 80's......It was easy to install!

do you have a 2 step capability? i want to upgrade the coil so if you could send me the p/n that would be awesome. but back to 2 step. are you running a mallory box or anything like that? im guessin thats the red box near your intake. what wires were needed to hook up to factory ignition/coil?

seriously, no turbo, but you want a two step?
just cover the car with stickers, coat the hood in brake fluid and let it rust, and the rice crowd will LOVE you.

There are alot of advantages to having two step on a NA car. I have alot of NA honda buddies that launch way harder on it.

No it's a Mallory ignition box and mallory oil filled coil, no 2 two step launch capabilities, just hotter igniton, better response, cleaner emissions and more ignition at top rpm, and none of that Oem coil problems.....There's a 2 step box that can be added to most aftermarket ignition systems but that's not my interest.... My ignition box is located in the cool intake area behind the heat shield.....the coil is on the passenger fender.....

2step rev limiter is for launching at take off no mater is its NA or boosted.. i my self would like a 2step so i wont guess/hold the rpm since the 2step will alway hold at your set rpm and always have same launch...

yea the 2 step is good for launching like previously stated. esp if i want to keep up w/ my cuzin's wrx lol but its mostly for show for me. im doing a catless exhaust and want to pop flames. drop ignition out at 3200rpm but keep fuel flowin equals quick bursts of pops an flames =)

I just happened to stumble across this today, it sounds like the perfect box to achieve your goal of shooting flames!

Sorry had no idea wut bee*R was. That is pretty sick but wouldn't a 6AL box be more beneficial for slightly more money?

Bee*R is best for drift cars, you can set the rev limiter as low/high as you want and it cuts ignition instead of fuel

YEAH IT WOULD IN THE SENSE ON THE CDI (CAPACITIVE DISCHARGE IGNITION) for a hoter spark ... one can also look into the new digital 6A series of thier cdi ignitions that come with built in rev limiter (i think they are 2step to )

Yeah mine has no limiter...my JWT ECU has the limiter....all I can do is recommend getting rid of that stock Oem epoxy coil......

oic, I haven't looked at the wiring on my max, what kind of splicing did you do to make it work? And why can I see your wheel from the inside?

wasnt a lot of splicing, wires to the original coil go to the msd and wire the box however you want, there you go installed. well not really that easy unless you want it to lay there.
Yes part of my wheelwells are gone, looooootttttttttttttttssssssssssssssss of work she is having done
