Trick to compressing stock springs?

I pulled some oem quick struts off a 3rd gen a few years ago. I took them apart back then to test the struts. I never got around to putting them back together. Here I am now trying to reassemble them. The struts are so short unlike 4th gens. I can't compress them enough to put them together. Do I need two sets of compressors?

Go to local parts store and ask to rent a spring compressor. Very easy to use. They usually come with 2 compressors use them 180 decrease from each other

Even with one of those compressors it can be tough to get them down far enough. Like you said, they are very short. Just make sure they are aligned properly in the mount, use the compressor, then have a fat guy hold the spring down so you can get the bolt in the top

Honestly how I did it!

I have a set of spring compressors and have put together dozens and dozens of setups. These struts are just so short. And no fat guys around sorry.

You might have to have the other compressor holding 4 coils while the other has 3. That's what I did. When decompressing the spring, one compressor might be caught at the final top (or bottom) coil. Just make sure you will have enough space to slightly whack the compressor out of the spring.

Looks like 2 compressors just isn't enough. I'll rent another set to get them squeezed some more.

yeah, I remember having a helluva time doing that when I changed some shocks on a stock-spring 3 gen. I wound up having to rent a second set of compressors and used all four.

When I changed the struts on my 94, stock springs, I didn't have any problems. I rented a spring compressor and everything went fine. Was this beginners luck?
