Skymax hosted my write up on his page. This is the write up I did for the US spec/plastic lights. The Euro versions/glass is a bit more complicated due to their larger size. If you have any questions, just pm me and I'll help where I can. There is a gap above the lights doing it this way. However, being that this is custom work, you will simply need to do some customization of your own in order to illiminate the gap and get everything aligned properly.

I have moved on to the Euro style in my '89 turbo. Still have the gap....I've never had a chance to get back and finish things up myself. So, it's a good idea to get things aligned when you are into it!

Thanks it doesn't seem to be to hard to do. Now it's time to hit the junkyards and see if I can find some headlights. What year BMW should I look for?

Should be listed in the write up. E36 was the specific style within a brief time period. As I recall, 1996 was one of those years and the one I asked for when I bought mine. I found buying these new from the dealer is surprisingly cheap. I bought them brand new (also in write up) for around $250 for the set......from my local BMW dealer....and that was 8-10 years ago. I would guess they are a bit cheaper, at worse the same price.

BTW, I don't recommend going dumpster diving for these lights. As mentioned, the US spec are plastic and prone to yellowing.....badly! Even if you refurbish them, the clarity will only last 8-12 months before you'll need to do it again. Better off buying new or you'll regret it...especially how cheap they are new.

When you say Euro style you mean Euro style e36 lenses or Euro style Maxima lenses with projectors?
I ask because I have the Euro Maxima lenses or clears lenses or what ever you want to call them. Anyway, I'm getting ready to do something with but not sure what yet. Originally I planned on getting euro e36 lenses but these were given to me as gift, so I'd like to keep them. Problem is as we all know, the lighting sucks as they are. I want real projectors in them and because they're real glass I shouldn't have to worry about them melting. Is there a thread or write up somewhere on here about using these lenses and retrofitting projectors into them?

Cannot recall myself, you will just have to search. I remember only that there were tons of threads on headlight mods through the years.
I was referring to the glass euro E36 lights, with projectors and holos/ angel eyes.
