hooked up my A/F gauge today, and it is readying Lean all the time. Even when i gas the motor. i've been getting crappy gas mileage lately, so i figure it's time to change the O2 sensor. the car has 126k on it, on the original o2 sensor. also, it has a funny miss. i'm still trying to figure out what it is. it's only at idle. maybe this will help. anyway, any idea what else it could be? why else would the A/F guage do that? oh, i got an 02 sensor for 56 bucks. . . not too bad. . . .

 

A dead/dying O2 sensor usually results in a rich mixture, hence the poor gas milage. Lean suggests air leak. You are due for a new O2 sensor so it won't be a waste of money even if it doesn't cure this problem.

 

yeah, we figured it was reading lean, so the computer was dumping more gas into the motor. . . .
