What happened here?

Hello I had a strange transmission incident happen to me driving my maxima.

I was coming up to a red light (under 30mph) in Drive, the light turned green (less than 20 feet) I gave it gas (about half throttle) it down ****ed to 2nd and then it wouldn't upshift too drive. So it was stuck in 2nd it reved up to 3500rpm I tried to manually shift from 2nd to D..no effect..I thought the worse ( i was on my way to LA) so I pull over and put the car in park, while still running I put it in D it went into gear, started driving it shifted from 1 to 2 kept going and it shifted and drove fine the whole trip afterwards... "What happened?" I did just changed the tranny fluid a few days prior FWIW (used Dex 3) Thanks in advance.

Your valve body had a B.F.

Could be your transmission computer going on the fritz. It happened intermittently to me, and I knew something was wrong when the "auto/power" switch light wouldn't turn on. Ordered a TCU on ebay on a hunch, replaced it, and it's been working fine ever since.

Maybe a solenoid or clutch piston was sticking!

Or it could be as simple as that.

Hmm, all good suggestions...occasionally when in OD the convertor will lock and unlock and the RPM's will fluctuate about 300 rpm's....still sounds like a transmission ECM problem still. Tranny fluid is fine. BTW

Probably just getting used to the new fluid. I have heard of tranny's acting strange after a change. Esp. a sex change....
