I was walked on last night...

So I am at the light when a black 5 speed prelude which looked stock, pulls up. It was the DOHC Vtec version. We go I pull on him on the jump. Up until he gets into 3 gear then he starts coming back. By this time I am almost redlined. My Max and his lude were both screaming but then my lame auto shifts into 3rd and he doesnt even shift at all keeps his 5 speed in 3rd and was weinding out hella high. He didnt shift until he put like almost a car length on me. WTF is UP? What is the redline in those things? Would a 5 speed VE get walked like that? DAMN.

The VTEC preludes redline at 7400 (93-96) and 7500rpm (97+). 3rd gear in those cars are good till about 89-91mph before they hit the rev limiter. I don't think the VE 5spd would get walked like that, they should be dead even.

Yeah well, notice how the HONDA has to rev so much higher to generate any power! Preludes are actually pretty good but I always have to talk crap about Honda. High revving doesn't mean anything.

Hey Dmontz, did that prelude sound like bees in a can? Just curious. Lately I've seen a lot of really cool looking preludes, that look really mean, except when they've taken off they always have that crap 20hp sounding Honda bees in a can! The newer ones are still pretty fast though. I have yet to seriously race one but, I had a moderate race as both of us rolled on to the highway. He was already ahead of me by like 10ft and he couldn't pull away any more up to around 125mph but then I let off.

Actually yes, It was really loud. But was pretty much stock everything. I have full exhaust and intake and I could hear his next to me.

well consider his car is lighter, 190hp(200??) and good top-end.....I know my frineds old 5spd '93 Lude ran high 14's with an intake and exhaust...the body style kinda sucked, but that thing was a rocket! it almost kept up with my boys stock Eclipse GST 5spd by a .5 car, so theres a little something to think about!

Had to get some more humor out of this one!

To quote John Travolta's character in 'SWORDFISH'…

(smile) - "I was just f@#$%in' with you, Stan!"
