can i swap a 6th gen 6spd trans on my 3rd gen 5spd?

Boy you are new with that type of question. A simple answer to your question is no. Unless you are a good fabricator and want to pretty much reconstruct the entire linkage set up. Easier for the 4th gen ppl to do it vs. us. Not saying its impossible but for the work, effort and money involve out weigh the result. Browse around in 3rd gen section of the search. You will see a lot of customization but will not see a 6spd swap. Theres a reason. Lol Welcome & enjoy!

Yes but same scenario with more work as just the trans. Aaron92se was the 1st to swap in a vq35 (3.5L) into a 3rd gen. He used an a/t set up, but one could use a 6spd. But for the same reasons is why he and only I think 2 other ppl accomplished this. In the end if you want a 6spd car buy a 6spd car. Especially if you don't have any experience with this type of stuff.

Or better yet, give it a try and report back your conclusion.
3rd Gen needs more innovators. If you can sacrifice the car, money, and time. Then go for it. Until then, I'm going to read about this RWD R35 GT-R.

In the end your messing with one of Nissans fwd relics. It didn't have much aftermarket compared to other cars, and barely has any options left from that today. We're just enjoying Nissans craftsmanship at its finest while we still can.

*thinks about those long nights under the car*
.... Yeah.
Now what I'm interested in....
A VG33 bottom end + VG30 heads..... This possible? I know the VG30DE and VG30E heads aren't compatible but why not the 3.3?
Or if the heads don't bolt on then just the Pistons+Crank from a 3.3 in a 3.0 + headwork and cams should net you guys some nice powahhhh....

i think there was something similar like what you mentioned already on here. not sure if it was a vg33 hybrid thread or vq34... something like that. when i get back from the gym i'll search it. it was a really cool idea and i don't think anyone went through with it

If I'm not mistaken the VG33 still should fit in the 3rd gen. VG30E was a rwd and fwd motor. You can swap it btwn the z31 and the maxima. Z crowd rather the maxima motor because of the extra hp and torque I believe. So if that 3.3L fits the Z like stock minimal finesse should be required for the 3rd gen. Theres a reason why ppl in this section have been planning on swapping in one those as an alternate upgrade vs a VE.
Here is a link to using Q45 pistons on a VG making it a 3.4L, but also explains some info for those making a VG30/33 hybrid:

Unlike the VQ, the VG mounting points are exactly the same for FWD and RWD applications. Plus, the 2nd gen Villager/Quest comes with a VG33E.

The VG is a relic but not ancient. They just stop making it in 03. That wasn't too long ago.
